My name is Beppe Veloce and I am Italian player of football, or as in my country we say
"il calcio" or like Americans say: "SOCCER."

I arrives SL only recent but listen--I do not see even one ball to kick!!!
Is there no sporting on this place? Is only buy and sell and build and build more and buy more and sell more for more $$$ and bigger egos? Not so good.

Here is my suggest, please:

We make the division of SL into the geograph ares, maybe 8 maybe 12 maybe 16 I don't know...depend how much the populations. And then each one area has A TEAM.
And these TEAMS they play together in A SOCCER LEAGUE.

We build at the first only a small stadium maybe, and do not cost so much the tickets for people to watch the match. But each area TEAM will play the others in this LEAGUE.
And in this way there can be the joy and spirits of communities and not just each one person only for him self.

For the good civilization is needed Joy and Spirit and Love and Unselfish and also
Beauty and some Excitements. All of these is found in A SOCCER LEAGUE.

I think we try this maybe, so SL is not no more just the little playing ground for each one person only for himself and his $$$ and his egos, but SL becoming a
TRUE CIVILIZATION with the group spirit and enthusiasms.

We have the CHAMPIONSHIP and the peoples care and the news papers here can have big story to write about it
and every one can care about all SL not only their own tiny little piece.

Please, for joy and spirit and love and excite, can this be possible to try?

I am not so educate and maybe not the most smart, but I feels strong in my heart
that this action be very very good for SECOND LIFE for every body.

I think this is a must, for everyone knows that football players are cute

... and usually not very smart

yeah, true, but from I see all the "smart" people here are completely rude and disrespectful to everyone around them

i belive there already is a soccer league in SL.

It depends, i know a whole lot of extremely smart people in SL that are completely polite, respectful and in addition to this, very nice.
I could make a long list of them, but can't name names on the forums

I don't mean to pick on this idea, but let me point out why such a thing is a bit hard to pull off.

Most team sports like to have 3-10 people per side, more in some of them, and more than 3 on average.

If you have 2 teams an a referee, then you have probably about 10-30 people playing in a sim...

Where is the audience? How do they fit in the sim? When they show up with 100 prim hair, and the sim crawls to a stop, what do you do?

Like I said, I like the idea, but it has problems. We do have weapon's duels, one on one, and this does fill some of the void.

I promise, may i swallow 1000 needles if i lie.

PS: my statement above wasn't directly aimed at the thread opener, but was just a remark at professional soccer players in general. Being one of the (unfortunately) few italians that absolutely despise what soccer has become, i regret to have to say that it doesn't pose a good example of sportmanship (and intelligence) anymore, if it ever did.
