Maybe I spend too long looking at AV faces close up, but I've long been frustrated by the ubiquitous, ugly distortions on either side of the nostrils. This weekend I played with the sliders and found that increasing the nose tilt to >50 & then reducing the nostril separation <50 to compensate visually, yielded smoothly curved nostrils ! My sigh of relief on discovering this was possible was audible in the next sim.

It took just 2 minutes and even more remarkably, I suffered no post operative bruising.

I'm sure not all of you are afflicted by this disfigurement, but having seen only one av in my time in SL that didn't (which prompted me to experiment) I hope this may be of use to some of you !

The nose mesh is indeed a sad state of affairs. While setting tilt above 50 does help untangle it, the tilt also sticks your nose up just a tad too far.

Yay thanks for the tip CJ!

I was making an alt and was getting frustrated by the ugliness.

I take it you mean "Nose Tip Angle" slider and "Nostril Division" slider? Anyways it worked great for me!

I had this issue some time ago and fiddled around til it buggered off, but I still find sometimes, in some lights and different skins it sometimes rears a hint of its ugly head!

The nose area is a pain in the ass, but once you get it looking decent, just keep your sun at sunset and you can hardly ever see any imperfections.
