Store owners beware. I saw this guy ([edited]) in X2 trying this scam. I know it's against the TOS to place a persons name in a message, but this just isn't right. I'm sick and tired of watching this crap happen. It's time to take a stand against these people!!!

In all honesty I wouldn't hesitate to name names either, if need be. Let them delete it....or worse.
In my opinion these are regular players that KNOW how to scam folks and are making a bunch of lovely alts to do so.

Yes I caught him last night trying to scam some customers.
He's a total and complete waste of flesh, worthy of a first place prize in the ‘Biggest Pile of Feces’ contest.

If LL isn't gonna do anything about these turds then we NEED to name names.

From: Devlin Gallant If LL isn't gonna do anything about these turds then we NEED to name names. Why? It's not like posting his name will make any difference. Do you think the people who are dumb enough to fall for this scam read the forums? Plus he can just make another AV and be back tomorrow.

True, but if his original av gets banned he loses it's inventory and land right? Doh! We weren't talking about banning, were we. Still, if his name is named it at least makes the av somewhat more useless for scamming. Forces him to make another.

If you name names on the forum or in-game, you run afoul of the TOS. Worse, the potential victims do not read the forums.
But we have a good solution to this.
In your store put up a sign that says "Please transact only with the official vendors or with <put all your personnel names here>. Management will not be held responsible for dealings with unauthorized personnel."
Scammers can just make a new name. So there's no way to make targetted warnings. So we do the next best thing, name names that won't change ... that is we name the OFFICIAL personnel.

You can name names. It's only against the rules to do it in the title of the thread. You also can't start a thread to flame some one or to try to resolve interpersonal disputes. Starting a thread to warn others of some buffoon's bad behavior isn't against the rules. Torley Linden: Scams do suck. I've closed this thread per the forum Guidelines. A clarification that "naming names" includes but isn't limited to post titles. The main problem isn't just the "name", but historically, it's often--and predictably--led to personal disputes here in the forums. It also confuses who's in the right about an issue because of the heated anger that inevitably arises. As pointed out earlier, however, 3rd-party forums don't have such a restriction...
