Instead of 'n00b', which is a bit like a racial slur now. Let's call them Box Heads!

- Burke Prefect,
Feeling a little Boxheaded at work.

I think that might fall into the insult category that he wanted to stay out of.

I did?! Huh?

I prefer to just call new people "new." Sometimes the folks will make their own new reference. Some don't mind being called newbie. Or n00b. I don't use the n00b one often though. I use t00b though, t00bing. Anyhoo ... Boxhead would make sense in SL.

this will sound like a joke, but I mean it.

When I hear the term "new people" in reference to noobs, it always makes me uncomfortable. I realize that most people don't know of the connotation of the term, so I try not to let it bother me, but I will never call a newbie a 'new person'.

"Boxheads" is too much like "blockheads", which is too Charlie Brown for me.

A n00b is a n00b is a n00b, whats the point in calling a noob anything else?

Why would any one be offended by being called a noob? Getting offended by being called a noob is stupid... and being called stupid 'is' something to get offended about. lol

Call someone an idiot, a moron, whatever, sure they have a right to get offended, even if its true. (more likely if its true)

I have been a noob in many games, some of those I went on to master, others I chose not to. I am a noob in SL right now, it is possible that coming from differnt gaming backgrounds the term has different connotations for us, but for me the term noob implies nothing negative that a little /Played time won't fix.

P.S. If the name means that much to you contact me in game I have a little car in mind, 3 prims, no script, and default texture, but I plan to lable it porsche! :P
