I have a question about..Fingernails!

I'm exploring the world of SL in my third week now and among other things, I am puzzled about fingernails.

Specificaly, why is it that all the nail and manicure places offer us beautifuly colored nails that are all so short and blunt-ended?

Is it possible for a girl to have long nails in Sl?

No way!

The biggest reason why I play Second Life is because all the girls have been declawed.

Sorta. There are no "finger" or "nail" attachment points. You can do it if you attach something to the wrist with nail prims offset from it, but it will look like crap every time your fingers move.

Starax, I think you are missing out on something.....


Looking around, I did find some prim long nails last night, and while they are French'd, I think they look wonderfull!

Now if I can just figure out how to paint them!

Hello Jennifer, welcome to SL! I've been missing long fingernails myself. Too bad you can't wear them with gloves either, as they get replaced.

Set hand size to minimum and drop a prim hand over it.

It works for paws.

Jenni, I've got a (cheap) colorable fingernail/toenail set in my skin shop -- it's a transparent glove/sock set, modifyable so you can easily recolor your nails. Obviously it won't work with your prim nails, though, but it's another option.

(Please excuse me plugging my stuff, but it did seem relevant to the discussion...)

I bought some lovely painted fingernails and toenails at SS Labs the other day. They do them as gloves and socks, that you can put on and take off at will. I think the fingernails work pretty well, though they really don't give you a properly manicured look. They sell matched sets for hands and feet for L$100 per color. (Their custom skins also rock. I was there to buy several of them for myself, and to ouder a custom one for a friend as well.)

Unfortunately, SL Avatars don't have the adaptability to do particularly nice looking fingernails. and the detail for toes and toenails is even wose, as the foot itself doesn't really even have toes!

I am going to check with the seller of the Fingernails, "La Femme" and see if I can get them painted.

I have some glove-style nails, and they are actually what led me to want longer nails!!!

I smoke in SL, so I'm constantly aware of how my nails look and I always want them to look great!

They are a great pearl pink, a fabulous red, a lovely red-orange and a terrific red-brown rust color (at least on my monitor!)

Of course I don't expect perfect color matching hun, so don't fret about it. I'd *love* to see whatever you come up with!
