SL looks like really fun and I really want to get into it but it is all a little overwhelming. I mean... where to start? What is a good way to start?
What are the best ways to make money? How do people make cars, swords, shields, lightsabers, planes, casinos etc.
I would really appreciate any help that anyone can give me as to the best ways to really get into this and how to do well at it.
*EDIT* Does anyone know any good tutorial websites or anything like that that talks about building, creating textures, creating scripts, swords, items?

I have heard many suggest the Ivory Tower as an ingame tutorial system for building. I haven't been myself, but many I know speak highly of it.
Just pull up the find tool and type in Ivory Tower in places. Should be easy to find I expect.
You are always welcome to come build at the Builder's Cafe where me and many friends hang out. Often someone around that may be able to answer questions and offer help.
Good luck, and happy building!

The SL Wiki has some help for all the things you mentioned. There are also in-world places you can go for help, the find function should be of assistance there. Ivory Tower is a good place for help when getting started with building. Robin Sojourner has a texture help area in world at Benten (25, 115, 2 as well which is pretty good. Then don't forget about the forums, there is a wealth of info in old and stickied posts plus if you need more help you can just ask in the related section.

There are also a variety of building and scripting classes that lay out basics. Check the Shelter (use find for "Shelter" for freebies and other new player resources. They also have some regular building competition ... build to a theme within a limited timeframe, which is very entertaining and also enlightening for new builders. Public Sandboxes (use find for "Sandbox" are just what they say, sandboxes where you can go to practice building and work on projects. I understand they can also be good places to meet people who are also working on projects. (Cant say from personal experience, since I mostly "work at home" in SL ... LOL) Anyway, hope those suggestions are helpful. And welcome to SL!

i have some copys of inworld notecards on my little sub website (gathered from New Citizens Inc) I usually dont broadcast it becuase not all of them are 100% complete (ie landmarks and textures) and not all of them have the full author's credits (i tried tho) But theres still some good info in a ezer to read format, and you can print it out too http://www.cheesefactory.us/NCI/modules/tutorials/if you want the sources of all of them they are @ New Citizens Inc and various other new player help type places
