I run a shirt store and usually set my items to copy/no transfer. There have been threads about the benefits of copyable clothes for people who like to save multiple outfits or alter their clothes and also save the original version.
I have noticed an increase in people wanting to give my shirts as gifts and need a transfer/no copy version. I guess this is a good thing and shows people in SL are being generous and friendly.
Of course, transfer and copy would be business suicide.
Are there any store owners with an innovative suggestion on how to satisfy both clientele without cluttering up my store with multiple versions of the same shirt. Maybe have a notecard that asks people to IM me if they want to give a shirt as a gift? Although that seems labor intensive.

Set up an account at SLBoutique or SLExchange, then put a poster in your store stating this is the gift giving option. They can buy there and have the service send it to whomever.

In stores I go/went to, I sometimes see a poster with pictures of the clothing, then under that poster there are 2 boxes, one is copy/no transfer, the other is no copy/transfer. If you have a lot of free prims, you could try doing something like that. Usually people want copy/no transfer items. This also makes it easier because of someone says they bought an item, but lost it, you can check your logs to make sure they did buy it, and just give them another since it's copy anyways.
Edit: I like Sansarya's idea better. ^^

Err, just remembered something: Moopf Murray had an excellent gift buying option on his vendor for ice skates, which I used to send all my friends ice skates around Thanksgiving time. This was an in-world gift giving option which worked great, fast delivery Check with him on this.

If anyone wants to give one of my no-transfer items as a gift, all they have to do is request that from me. They tell me what item, and they pay me directly for that item. I then drop the item in the intended recipient's inventory, boxed with a notecard that explains that it is a gift, and who the giver of the gift was.
Yes, it's extra effort to do that. I consider it part of giving good customer service.
Now, what I would really like would be some sort of easy-to-use 'gift card' mechanism, where a customer could purchased a scripted 'debit card' to give to someone, pre-loaded with a cash value in Lindens, and usable at my stores. I know some merchants like Jakkal's Werehouse already offer gift certificates, and I would love to know how to set that up.
It would also be nice if instead of a raw cash value, it could be good for a pre-paid purchase of a specific item. That would rock!
Are there any experienced merchants or scripters out there know how to do these tasks, and willing to share the methods?

This idea gives me a solid reason to put all my store offerings on-line! Thanks for the suggestion!
