I guess im having trouble understanding exactly how land permissions work and how they apply to the objects on the land.

Lets say I have a hunk of land with it limited to group access only, most, but not all the objects on the land are set to the same group; the other objects are set to no group. Will members of the group (Members or Officers) be able to do anything with the objects? As in, move them, edit them, take copies. Or, would I still be the only one able to access them, they just happen to be set to that group?

oooh that's a tricky one!

You may have to deed objects to the group for other people in the group to be able to use them and/or actually set permissions on the object.

I would highly suggest testing it out with a few plain old prims to see what happens when it is just set to group vs. deeded to group etc...

OR

Wait til somebody more knowledgable comes along and answers. Though I have group land with a friend, and I can't move any of his things unless he gives me rights. I would be VERY careful on who you give rights to though.

Having the land "group owned" will give any officer of the group the right to delete or return any object on the land.

Having the land "group owned" or owned by you and set to group will allow any group member to set their prims to group and not have them auto returned.

No other permissions are granted to anyone with regards to objects on the land by setting the land to group. Object permissions behave the same there as they would anywhere else.

This is exactly what im getting at :p I want the land to be -my- land as well as all objects on it with no one being able to edit/move them, but with the ability to control who has access to the land when griefers are about without having to use 'Limit Access' list. (Which now I've been having problems with now that neighbors figured out im a fur :/)

But thats a different topic.

So, just having the land set to a group does not grant any rights to people within the group to edit objects that are on that plot set to the same group? (Other then no auto-return) Think I got it right there :p The only way to give 'edit' rights would be to manualy set that on each object in the edit tools window General tab, if I understand this correctly.

Not currently possible without scripted security.

Yes setting share with group allows anyone in the group to edit a single prim. Granting an individual modify rights with let that individual modify all of your prims.
