I have experienced a number of game breaking bugs today since the update.
Two biggest problems I'm seeing are: Objects having a terrible time communicating with one another via Email and items not transferring properly/consistently. When there are so many transactions in SL that depend on decent communication and assets being transferred correctly, why is SL still up?
It seems like once again you rushed out changes without testing them properly--this time to how the asset server transfers items. This isn't some annoying change to how the enter key works, which we can deal with until you fix them. These are serious problems affecting real business transacations.
Take the grid down and fix this. The grid should not be up when such serious problems are happening.

I'd rather the grid be up and broken than not be up at all.

From: nimrod Yaffle I'd rather the grid be up and broken than not be up at all. You must not buy or sell things then.

Keiki, have you contacted a Linden directly with your concerns?

Keiki, some people say this is a common practice in the software industry and that is to release half baked products and then to play catchup except they never catchup because they keep on releasing more half baked products. I do not know that this is the industry standard but it is one that Lindens Labs has choosen to follow.
This is a choice that a company makes and is not written in stone.
Do you see what I mean?

I did contact a Linden via live help. They said they were aware of these problems going on and that they may have to take the grid down.
I don't expect updates to be bug free. There will be new bugs introduced with every update. That will happen. I accept that.
However, when bugs are creating serious problems with transactions that involve money, they need to shut down the grid until they fix it. It seriously undermines SL for the grid to be up when intersim inventory transfers don't seem to work.

I did read it. Very carefully and responded accordingly. If it appears that I didn't understand the point you were trying to make, you need to explain it better.

The reason I ask this. If you are running a RL business and the power goes out what do you do. You report it to the power company and move on. Then you try to make it up charge alittle more next week, or having sale to bring in traffic. If this not you main source of income, (don't take this the wrong way) why take it so seriously? I am not saying LL is not responsible for alot of the resent down time. It just seems to me that some people take SL a little to seriously then enjoying it for what it is.

Is everyone having the same problem i am, none of your friends show online, or have i just been ostrisized and dropped off the grid to never never land ??? Friends not showing online is, as they say, a "known issue". From: Char Linden in the announcements forum Friends List - Presence Problem There is a known presence problem that we are looking into. This might affect the accuracy of your friends list and showing friends online. Please stay tuned to the forum as more information develops.

Seems to be Wednesday is never a good day. Tonight I sign on and immediately notice a problem when I walk on my sidewalk and store floors. I immediately fall to SL ground through the floors. So I try again and try to land on top of my store and I fall through the whole thing. I know customers will leave immediately if this keeps happening. Perhaps this is due to only the SIM. It did stop for a while. I hope it doesn't come back. I put a bug report in, but I think LL is just to overwhelmed right now. Doesn't help me because I'll be losing sales.

What they should do is, stop any new changes until they get all current issues resolved. Then need to give everyone that has paid money for their account a credit in USD not Lindens for time not being able to login into the grid.

And downtime is to be expected, they shouldn't compensate us for it.

They would lose a lot of money that way and go out of business at the rate we are going.

It's written carefully into the terms of service that basically it is highly unlikely that we will ever see compensation or a refund for downtime, regardless of the facts for it.

Despite the TOS, LL has given compensation for downtime and/or lost work in the past. I'm not saying that they should or that they will again, but it's remarkable that they've done it at all.
There are two times that I can think of.
One time was right after I joined 2 years ago. There was a problem after an upgrade that caused LL to rollback some changes in world. I was too young to even notice, but LL gave everyone L$2500 that had logged in between the upgrade and the rollback. It wasn't announced on the forums and I have no idea how many people got the money, but it happened.
And then sometime later, I don't remember exactly when, LL gave us a credit on our monthly bill for downtime. Everyone got that refund. The amount wasn't worth celebrating over, but it was just remarkable that they did it at all.
