I have a "Bad Things" folder where I put objects that I don't want to accidentally give to people, or pull out except maybe in an unscripted area or a really isolated location.
I have two things in my Bad Things folder, the "-Wild Slime Follow Drone" and a "Green Light Swarm Spawner" .
I hate getting rid of anything, even the wild slime drone.
Does anyone else have a bad things folder and if so what do you have in it?

I have more of this crap than I care to think about, but it's all scattered about in various different junk folders.

Not quite but...

A little over a year ago while building a skybox garden I decided to try scripting my own temp-on-rez fireflies. I hadn't messed with scripted movement of physical objects before so it took me a few hours of poking around in the freebie scripts and the wiki to get the prototype somewhere close to what I wanted, I just needed it to go a little faster. So I tweaked a couple of values, hit save and dropped out of edit mode (without first copying the script Id just spent hours working on into my inventory). Fortunately I'd had the forethought to limit the range of movement to within my own parcel of land, but as that parcel consisted of over 10,000 sq meters and the prim was a cut sphere 10 cm in diameter it still took me well over an hour to catch the damn thing. It still makes me chuckle to think of the sheer frustration of chasing that first firefly, and the sense of elation and triumph when I finally caught it. It's about the closest I've come to having a bonding experience with a prim so I named him Francis, grabbed a copy of the script and then stashed the feisty little fella in my inventory, where he still sits to this day. Now I come to think of it I've picked up a bit more experience in scripted physical objects and a lot more land... I may have to pull the lil guy out of storage, give him a script overhaul and set him free to roam the local forests. P.S. good thread! P.P.S. I <3 Wild Slime Follow Drones!!

But they are still in my inventory somewhere. I also have a special folder called, "Things I Don't Understand." There must be 30 or 40 things in that that I've never figured out what they are for, or how to work them. coco

I suppose the "gun" I made for lazy hunters, that fires dead animals instead of bullets, would fit in the very bad thing category. It supposedly crashed the Morris sim; apparently sims can only deal with so many dead sheep at once. I guess the servers are sort of squeamish.

I have a genuine self replicating "Lucky Flying Fish". I grabbed one a long time ago when I saw them spawning in the old Welcome Area. It has not seen the light of day since I grabbed it. Its well over 2 years old.

Absolutely classic,
Fantastic and wonderfully refreshing, unbounded silliness with a zeal guided only by the brilliance of competitive humorous cleverness.
(hours chasing a freshly born smart prim) (as the lazy hunter peers furtively about to check for the gossipy eyes of other hunters before firing his double barrel dead animal shotgun)
Those stories ripped a bust out loud laughing response from me that reverberated through the local community, and was by no means short lived. Thanks all for this thread.

OOH!
Prim hunting!
Stock the hunting grounds with prim prey and have people hunt them with scripted guns that "kill" them.

I had a nice self replicating prim that sent an IM to someone on every generation saying alternately "tick" then "tock" - As it was a new prim each time it couldnt be muted.
The person in question payed their bill pretty quickly after that.
( that was back in my rebellious days - but the "nowhere man" is still in my "CAUTION DO NOT USE" folder along with other things I have experimented with, but never used )

I still have the Wild Slime Follow Drone, including a giant version. The big ones not only follow you, they push you around. I had one actually push me into orbit once.

Ohhhhh Yes! I have a long series of devices that will never see the light of day again. Lately, I rebuilt a manta-ray physicless ship that could have unlimited passengers and was about 50-100 prims in size... And I hit a sim border in it, got ejected, and watched it ZOOOOOM off at high speed with no way to slow it down. <sigh> Someone contacted me later with a polite "Could you PLEASE get this thing out of my living room?" I just keep having the mental image of a giant mantaray crashing through a wall and scaring me and my guests half to death... "And here you can see..." <Crash> "DEAR GOOD IT'S DEVOURING FOOLISH!" <sounds of mass panic and people running about>

From: Devlin Gallant I still have the Wild Slime Follow Drone Didn't we get those special 'lil drones from LL, on a special day, that special people showed up, for some damned special event, and we all thought it would be so damn special till we got it? Isn't that special.

Hmm I don't think so Nyx. The original creator appears to be Steller Sunshine and usually the LL freebies are created by a Linden aren't they? Plus I believe they were around long before I first signed up, which is apparently the same month as you did. Are you sure you're not thinking of some other widget?

Ahhh you are correct, I went in-world to check and it's the 'benshee'. I apologize to the creator of the slime drone hehe...everything I said was meant for the benshee. Back to your regularly scheduled thread

(The "P" is for "pounding", but fill in your own blanks!) Know this wasn't a contest (and you were slightly off-topic), but if t'were, you'd win hands (and dead sheep) down, Suezanne! Let's hear it for squeamish servers, folks! Shaman

I have many, many "Bad Things" I keep locked up...but I tend to call them "friends".
Sadly, they are rather a resourceful lot and keep escaping the folders I lock them in...

"And here you can see..." <Crash> "DEAR GOOD IT'S DEVOURING FOOLISH!" <sounds of mass panic and people running about> Haha, I did that once with an airplane I built. I decided to see if I could fly across the grid with it back to my home sim. Everything was peachy for about 5 sims, then I got bounced. The kind of bounced where the prim still thinks you're sitting on it and your viewer crashes. I reconnected and my passengers on the plane informed me that it was careening wildly around the grid without a pilot. I put on my flight booster and chased it across half a dozen mainland sims, watching as I'd almost catch it then it'd bounce off of a structure and careen off in another direction at high speed. I finally caught it and jumped back into the pilot seat and finished flying it home, where I ditched it in the lake and left it there.

I have been the pasenger on one of thoes lost captin flights. At speed we were moving quickly then poof, capin overboard. No way for me to grab control, it hit the end of one of the sims and shot straight up. At about 27,000m up, I got booted and started to free fall back. Talk about a long free fall. TP'd home at about 800m up. Not sure how far up it went before crashing. Never knew a script could go that bad and launch you that high, it's very dark up there.
