I've been gone for a while now (Since around 1.8) I got on SL today and I noticed that it's running more quickly and smoothly than ever; I even seemed to be getting more frames per second! Can anyone tell me what happened? :P SL used to run very poorly for me, but now it seems to be pretty zippy!

You fell into a time-space anomaly where time flows 10 times faster than for the rest of us. 'Cause SL got anything but faster since last year

Nah performance is better than 1.8. Because 1.8 blew, remember? At least the first few releases.

Due to popular demand, unwanted graphics features will continue to be removed from SecondLife.

1.9.1 transitions to GLIDE as well as Open GL 1.0, and will allow SL to run on an AMD K5-233 with a VESA Local Bus S3 ViRGE 3D chipset or a 3DFX Voodoo 1 PCI card with pass-through VGA.

And it will only run under OS/2 Warp. Well, OK, also WfW 3.11, but you need QEMM installed first and FILES=4096 in your config.sys.

The Welcome Area will feature an 18-polygon dancing Coke can, and everything will be lit green by one hardware light.

Sky and terrain has been replaced by an ANSI animation created with TheDraw.

It will support both AdLib *and* GUS for streaming ROL files, and all music will be in *.VOC files kept in one large ARJ file in the \multimedia directory.

Note that while the SecondLife servers will support up to 9600bps (N-8-1), HST is *not* supported, because only 2-day warez groups pirating CorelDraw use that anyways.

20 megs online, with doors to LORD and Tradewars. Running WWIV 2.6. Resumable ZMODEM downloads. Appz, demoz, picz and gamez.

enjoy.
