The asset servers will shut down.. completely and LL will sit thier scratching their heads as the grid monkey pokes his nose because they're clueless how to fix their unscalable system.

I reckon they will have noticed the heatwave, all gone down the beach for a BBQ, completely forget to put in the update and we will have a weeks worth of "what did they do now" before anyine realizes nothing has changed

Since they are messing with how the friendlist is sorted... All friendlists has been wiped.. SL bugs are never that simple. They mess with friend's list and -- vehicles will suddenly delink themselves when you sit on them. It's never a nice A>B relationship. |

They are messing with the friendlist and all of a sudden the head size ruler in appearance is set to 100 and can't be lowerd. |

I think Linden Labs should do that one day: announce an update with a list of (innocuous/difficult to verify) updates and corrections. Then take the grid down for, say, one hour: shorter than usual....and do absolutely nothing. Bring the grid back up, and see how everyone discovers all sorts of new bugs with the update. Hundreds of "THIS UPDATE SUCKS" and "PUT IT BACK THE WAY IT WAS!!" posts will flood the forums as per usual. Then, several days later, announce that it was all a sham, and that the people complaining about the horrific update are in fact full of premium kaka. I'd laugh, and laugh, and laugh....it would be worth it  |

Efforts will be made to improve the average fps from dismal to piss-poor. As a completely unforseen side effect LOD will drop to the point where nothing further away than 10mm will be rendered.
No one at LL will notice initially bacause a further side effect will result in the complete breakdown of the bug report system. Philip will post an inspiring blog explaining how SL can be the 'new web' even if no one can see what they are doing by applying the principles of the little known eastern system of 'Bhul-Chit' to running the office. _____________________

The Lindens will inadvertantly kick in the Choas Theory mode - nothing more to say, kiss your arses good bye, and bear in mind that if you do there might be a chance that some casino 25 zones away from you will be unlinked and 1 piece will wind up in the inventory of everyone aroind it for however many pieces there are (there you go, SL might now have jigasw puzzles).
