King Philip, in a grid-wide crackdown today, shuttered illegal Yard Sales postings in the events tab and warned illegal posters not to continue posting those types of listings in the future.
Yard Sale event posters screamed murder, while the Central Government maintained its policy.
I, for one, applaud King Philip and LL. Our events tab was becoming cluttered with yard sale after yard sale, which are supposed to be posted in the classifieds tab.
These actions today will help keep SL clean.

Opinion:
Any yard sales which are hosted during certain beginning and end hours and are posted within the limitations of the numbers of posts allowed are legitimate yard sales.
Anyone receiving a warning who met the above standards should not have.

From: Forum Guidelines Recourse: If Linden Lab takes disciplinary action against you that you believe was unfair or inconsistent, you may appeal the decision. An appeal is an e-mail or private message explaining your situation and why you believe you should not have been disciplined. Appeals must be sent via e-mail only to abuse-manager@secondlife.com, and must follow this appeals procedure, or they will not be considered. You may submit only one appeal per disciplinary action. This is from the Forum Guidelines but I think it applies in cases other than forum related disciplinary action.

Has no one ever setup a 3rd party, Second Life events calendar? Seems like someone could make some bank doing that, especially with llHTTPRequest on the way. Fix a blog-like site that shows a calendar of events, and tack on an RSS feed that could be tapped with in-world devices once 1.9 hits the grid.
You could even sell HUD's that could notify people of events. Maybe even an "alarm" feature, where they can stick events in a notecard in a prim.
Has no one done this yet?

These actions today will help keep SL clean. I believe the Lindens should deal with the bugs, which go back to 1.4.0, instead of chase off Yard Sales or launch needless and pointless new versions ( like 1.9.1) of the software.

In version 1.9.1 we are gonna get flexi prims, hardware lighting and other such tools. How can that be pointless? I am really looking forward to this version to be released. Maybe you have a vested interest in yard sales? Long live the King! Bulldog

Silly stuff aside, like flexiprims, version 1.9.1 has occlusion culling finally, which I would call anything other than pointless.

I believe the yard sales in question are being "chased off" by a purple and green pony. I don't think horses are very good at fixing bugs. Their hooves make it difficult to type. If you don't get the metaphor: Not everybody at LL is a programmer... some people are employed purely to keep the community in line. Sure, if the coders were spending their valuable time chasing down yard sales, then THAT would be a bad use of resources. But it 'aint so.

These actions today will help keep SL clean. Wow, the capitalists are applauding government intervention in the economy? Has Jamie been brainwashed by the communistic forces of Second Life? Or, as is the usual case, is this an example of big business using the power of government to eliminate competition? Now, wait, wait a minute, what's that called? Oh yeah, fascism.

These actions today will help keep SL clean. It boggles the mind as to how an incredibly outspoken supporter of the free-market system would applaud an obvious show of strong government intervention in regards to player economy. Or are you being sarcastic? It's become really hard to tell with you.

Well as I believe you said earlier somewhere, you don't consider yourself a 'snitch', but we have been encouraged to report abuses of the events postings in order to avoid being charged for posting events in the future. So I too 'snitched' yesterday.

From: Karsten Rutledge Now if only King Philip would crack down on freebie resellers. There is no way to track every single freebie item in SL. If it is set to allow someone to SELL/GIVE AWAY, then they are allowed to do it. If you don't like it, don't set your stuff to full perms.
