Second Life in the Washington Post. I'm not sure if this has been posted yet. Unfortunately, you may have to register to read this.

Naturally, I'm biased, but I thought it was a really good article. I like how she mentioned everything from fulfilling silly childhood dreams (flying, ferraris) to the potential business applications (medical and more). Big props for drawing the parallel to the World Wide Web in 1994; it does feel similar to those of us who were using the web (and Gopher before it!) in the late '80s / early '90s.

One of my very good friends from college told me about this article last night. She still thinks SL is an insane concept :( Regardless of media coverage I have never been able to get any of my friends interested in SL long term. *sigh*

It seems as if lately most of what we've seen in the way of articles is

sex sex sex in Second Life
So this article is quite refreshing.

You are not alone Ebony, I have a friend that comes in once in a great while to see me and visit since she lives far away (she prefers MySpace)...and my nephew just joined...other than that...I have the same trouble.

Aye, my fiance is more of a GreatestJournal/MySpace person. My other friends prefer WoW. And the one that I DID get to join probably wont stay long. Seems the 18-20 college crowd would rather write about & shoot at things.

I've had mixed luck. A bunch of RL friends have tried it out; some have been short term addicts, others have tried once or twice, and some have become full-time SLers. The full-timers, oddly enough, end up developing completely different second lives and we really don't hang out in world that much.

Regards,

-Flip
