If you win a prize and then turn around and sell it... is that wrong? I was banned from a property and ejected from a group because I sold some of the prizes I won. These items were for sale in the store and were set "no copy", but were transferable. They were NOT "freebies" for sale at 0L or 1L. Most were clothes selling for at least 150L in the store. I am probably opening a can of worms with this, but was very upset with what happened and would like a few of your opinions.

As long as they weren't freebies (even exclusive freebies) you are within your right to sell.

If the permssions are set for transfer, and there not freebies, I dont see what the problem would be.. unless you turned around right there and were trying to sell them where they are already being sold, and for less.. or even the same price or somthing like that. That would not be good at all.

Nope... I took them to a yardsale to sell.

well most places iv seen if they dont want u to resell they make the items no trans, then there is no problem. my feeling is u won it, its urs to do what u like with it. just dont sell freebie junk, thats bad. if the store owner has problem, she needs to make her items no trans.

Same thing happened with me dorra ,same store. and No I wasn't trying to sell them in her store but was accused of that pretty much .The day I supposeable was tring to sell them in her store I hadn't even been on line because of storms for 2 days. And I'm not the type of person to do anything like that anyways. I was selling the extra ones I had ,in my store in the used area of my store.I was upset by all this to, but u and I both know 90% of those people standing in that store all day are selling what they get out of those chairs . If she doesn't want people selling them then she needs to make them no trans. Thats the only way it's gonna stop. I'm not in this game to piss people off or make money off anyone but I feel if u put a chair in your shop that gives out a trans object, then that person can pretty much give it away or sell it. If you don't want that to happen then please make it no trans.

I've also lately found the craze of lucky chairs, and luckily enough, got a few prizes of my own. Now, I don't judge anyone for selling the prizes they won, but the thought never occured to me myself. If I happen to get a copy of an outfit I already have, or win something I wouldn't really wear myself, I just give it out to a friend, or to a newb. I would personally feel bad about selling something someone has made "me", for free.

If they give it out to me, for free, and I didn't even buy anything from their shop at a normal prize anyway, I wouldn't want to make money out of someone else's work I did nothing to earn. And honestly, I wouldn't buy the outfits I knew were give-outs, on any yard sale either.

But like I said, that's just my opinion, and I am pretty straight-laced at some things...lol.

I have also pondered about the productivity of the lucky chairs, especially in this particular shop, where both of the products change each day. I don't even know if she can make it up in the day's sales, that the return would be worth it. Some places I've been to, no longer even have the chairs. I guess this is just a passing fad that will soon be gone.

I have given away prizes from my store at the club lots of times. I tell people if you won something that doesnt suit you (like when a man wins a prim gown :p ) that they should take it to the yard sale (we have a permanent second hand place on the same sim) and sell it there for cash. That way it is still a prize to them and not useless.

Seems silly to give something away and just assume all people are going to love it and keep it forever.

I occasionally donate prizes for various contests, and I wouldn't mind seeing those at a yardsale - tastes vary, and if someone is unhappy with their prize, I'd rather have them sell it so they get a few L$ instead, rather than stay unhappy with something they can't or won't use.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. Nor do I understand why the merchant would be upset. You give away freebies for marketing purposes. If it gets transferred or sold to a third party, it just increases the marketing value.

The reason selling freebies is frond upon is that it's targeting the ignorance of newbies. I don't believe selling a freebie in itself is inherently wrong, certainly it's done in real life all the time (example, bottled water). But we want to protect our new members.

But in the case of prizes, they are not 'free', they just didn't cost Lindens, but instead time, effort or luck. Nor are they available for free at another location, so there is no advantage being taken of the newbie.

I am standing in store now hoping and waiting for a chair and my letter. In a case like this kinda think it is wrong. No most people standing and waiting aren't doing it to sell the items. They are lovely creations. I have once actually won two of same and was thrilled to give it to freind so I hope that she doesn;t change it to no transfer.
If you do not want the item which is clearly pictured then please let someone win it that doens want it

Hey I just noticed something. In both cases above where the people said they were banned . It was Extras mentioned as in multiples. I would be sorely pissed if I was her and people were coming in and camping strictly to turn around and sell those same items.
Hope there is not much of that. As far as I am concerned she is extremely nice to make them transferable so they can be given as gifts. I don't think we have heard the complete and full story in this case

Yeah, I have to agree, it's one thing to go to an event or get a prize occasionally and sell it, it's another thing if this was a case of camping a prize chair or ball for the resulting prizes to sell. That's not very cool :/

First I'd like to respond to Dorra

Some of the things you were selling WERE NOT FREEBIES, they were New items within the last 2 weeks. You were also selling Pink Passion which is not for sale in the store right now because Im adding a basement area that will have very low cost 'last season' items. It's in the RAFFLE BALL... You were selling it for either $90L or $100L. Personally I was selling it for $50L, So it was being sold for more than I sell it for. I dont like that.

I personally consider the raffle FREEBIES, because it's Free and full of items, and also going off every ten minutes. This is my personal intent and opinion, I have the RAFFLE BALL OFF until I have time to make each thing NO TRANSFER. This is to STOP people from SELLING them. The intent is for these items to be given, not sold. I apologize that no one will be able to GIVE their copy to a newbie, but this problem has gotten too big. So many people enjoy it and so I don't want to discontinue it. I have found these items selling for sometimes twice what I sell them for. That is my only prob.

Also Ive said I don't have a prob with the lucky chair items being sold, you stood their and waited for your letter to come up, I said this to embrace, but I do not like the the actual freebies from the raffle being sold. That is why the free raffle for prizes is off til I have time to make em no transfer.

Embrace, I also asked you personally if it was you in the store selling em after you won them. This was after the initial time we met. There was a girl selling them in the store after she got the, she was banned. I asked you - and I believe you when you say it wasn't you.

I don't like being a BIT** because initially my intent was to be generous. I love so many of the regulars to my store and enjoy meeting everyone. The raffle stuff will be no transfer when it is turned on as I consider those items gifts - not junk. I am undecided on whether the lucky chair items will go to no transfer.

I have found people that stand there and win the raffle over and over and later seen them for sale...for too much. Not yard sale prices...Also seen a supposed friend turn around and sell my things to my customers that they got for free. There has been a lot of DRAMA the last two weeks. Hopefully it will stop now.

Just to clear a few things up. I was not "camping" at the store to win lots of them, but sometimes I would get a tp from a friend because the chair was on my letter and they wanted it to change. Therefore I had extras of some of the outfits which I either gave away or sold. She changes the prizes quite frequently so I was in the store every few days for maybe 20 mins at a time waiting for the letter to change. When she changed the items I was in a few times a day until I won each of the outfits.

I happen to own a lucky chair, and if I'm not mistaken, or perhaps this is just common sense, the instructions specifically tell you to make items no transfer so that people have to keep teleporting friends in if they want one, getting more people to check out your store, rather than teleport one in and that person hands the prize off to you. If she made it transferable, she's basically telling you "go ahead and give/sell the prize". If she's upset that the person you're giving or selling it to isn't coming to her store to buy it from her or sit in the chair, perhaps she should rethink her strategy. Otherwise, I say, there's nothing wrong with doing just that.

Edit: wow, okay, in the time I wrote that she'd already replied. :)

I have a lucky chair at my store too. I make special items just for the chair prizes. They are set as transferable and if people want to sell them thats ok with me. Since I do not sell my prize items in the store I am not in competition with myself.

Yes Julia u did ask me to which I was honest and told u I hadn't even been on, and then I loged on yesterday and was imed and told I was on a ban list at your store. which is ok thats your right. And as for extras , People add you to there friends list so that if it a chair lands on your letter they im you, well alot of times you will get 100 ims a day askng if u will sit in a chair so it will change to the next letter and if i'm not busy on that day I will go sit for people and usually if theres people around I do give what I get out of her chair to someone standing there if I already have it but there had been times when either no one else was close or everyone had one so yes sometimes u do end up with 1 or 2 extra. And I also bought items in the store it's not like I just went there for the chairs.

Well certainly there is a lesson to be learned about the lucky chair...I did let them be no transfer because I dont mind people sharing and I didn't know all the drama was gonna happen. I have had to make it no transfer now but this way there won't be any problems and there wont be IM's to me telling me about people selling stuff. There really were a lot of reports. I didn't mind the lucky chair items being sold... for reasonable prices. I did mind the raffle stuff being sold as I said before and that's why the raffle was switched to cash prizes yesterday until I have time to make everything no transfer...

As for Embrace she has been very nice and upfront, I forgot to unban her after we cleared up what was going on. It really was just that I forgot :-) .

Dorra is also no longer banned, I should have had the freebies in my raffle set to no transfer if I didn't want em sold. I didn't mind them given away if anyone had extras. I know that anything is fair game to be sold if it's transferrable. I also apologize here and will message Dorra in game.

I do spend a lot of time designing, it's becoming more than a hobby to me. I just love making clothes. It's not just for profit though. I truly feel happiness giving gifts to people.

What a lesson I have learned...

Agreed!
I work at BareRose and we use a raffle system to give new people items. We finally labelled the boxes raffle item not for resale so that people know they can get them for free at the store and not pay 100 plus at some yard sale.
These items were desined specifially for the raffle and are not supposed to be available in any other way.
For those that don't like the design they won we have regular swap meets at the store for trading with others. This is to keep people from saying they didn't like the one they got so they can resell it. We encourage people to "Give them free" to others as well.
Please give us the option Frurry mentions it would go a long way to helping in situations like these.

I can agree with the selling of items you no longer use and paid for.

I dont agree with selling freebies and items you have won ..

BUT if you BUY something then a couple of days later win it however , should someone get bent because you sold the original that you bought cuz the free pack had extras ?

And then it comes to mind , how does one know which of the two you sold in all reality... argh this is a headache..

I know from various stores I have bought stuff and have it not look right on my avie, I am guilty of selling 300L items for 99 to recoup my loss. I am sure many of us have said Oh how cute.. put it on and said Oh hell no .. Yikes this looks horrible on me.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Hrm.

Julia , love your store , like your chairs , raffle ball is a raffle ball, can take it or leave it in all honesty. But plllllleeeeease dont let a few bad apples ruin the fun for the rest of us. Id say in all honesty , imho put the raffle stuff to no transfer , and not everything in the store. I personally love suprising friends with new stuff for them to wear . And to hand out to funky dressed avies... Got to love the noob fresh off welcome island clothes...*cringes* almost as bad as the hair.. Almost.

Again I am pleading please dont make us all pay for a few jerks.
