Soapbox Time!

It's time for the Feature Roundup, with your host, Tsukasa Karuna!

*bows*

Anyways, eleventy-eleven is upon us, and with it, some major changes that should (with luck) reduce a majority of greifing as we know it, and maybe even stop a lot of the newbie hate. Some general life improvements as well. My comments will be in italics:

So let's get on with it
New features:
* Additional right-click functionality for inventory folders containing wearables
** "Add to Outfit" puts accessories on your avatar without removing existing ones
*** This is also activated by shift-dragging the folder onto your avatar
** "Replace Outfit" removes existing outfit and wears contents of folder
** "Take Off" removes ONLY worn items in the folder
* Region/Estate and About Land now feature the option "Restricted Pushing"
Yes Yes YES! Finally! Happy dance! :D :D :D
** When pushing is restricted, only the following calls of llPushObject will succeed on the land:
*** Any push called against the owner of the scripted object
*** An object owned by the landowner
You can shoot the griefers, but they can't shoot you :D
*** An object deeded (or Set) to the same group the land parcel is deeded (or Set)
Same with your group members!
** Region/Estate edits this setting on a per-region basis, not per-estate

Other changes:
* llGiveInventory() box now supports an option to mute the giving agent (user or object)
Woot! No more spam!
* llPushObject() functionality can now be disabled on a parcel or region
see above
* Sounds triggered by muted residents are now muted
good idea, now muted actually means muted!
* Change LOD scaling of Object Mesh Detail slider to be higher quality when it's set to maximum
always love sparklies..

Bug fixes:
* Banned users cannot be heard from your parcel
And life continues to get worse for the griefers.. so sad :P
* Texture tab and picker no longer preview textures on objects you don't own
I'm guessing this is closing a security hole of some kind
* Fixed a bug where IM and Chat history text is blurred on some ATI cards
* Fixed a bug where skirt mesh blocks attachment editing on legs
* Group names, parcel names, classified names are now filtered to ASCII characters
* All default gestures no longer deactivated upon first relogin
* 'Stop Flying' button is now disabled when flying over No Fly land
* Right-click IM calling cards now works consistently
* Fixed a bug where scrollbars failed to appear when IM window holds more IMs than IM panel can display
* Fixed a bug where multi-select of faces does not always display the last selected face properties
* Fixed a bug where color settings revert to black when changed from defaults
* Fixed a bug where clicking set in about land / forsale doesnt automatically show the calling cards
Bugfixes are always good..
* Hitting enter while chat history has focus now focuses the chat bar
Very nice improvement!

All in all, i have nothing negative to say about this release! Props and kudos going to the LL folks if this one goes down without any fireworks in the server room :)

It's a good change, assuming that push is restricted in all areas of the land, as opposed to the "lower 15 meters" (as most no script regions sans Newcomb are).

Though, honestly, all it's really going to do is raise the incidence of cage guns et al, solving very little once people figure it out. What is needed here is far more than a band-aide on a broken leg.

Give us some real granularity in the land permissions engine, such that avatars cannot "sit hack" portions of a game sim or use their own gadgets in a networked FPS. Then I'll be impressed. :p

Woo-hoo, a bucket load of nice fixes and features!

Great stuff! Finally we can just put on and off out outfits without having to check back if we're going to lose a paw or our heads :) Honestly, though, this should be the default behavior on drag & drop, saving the more intrusive shift drag & drop for full avatar changes. But probably that's just me, I can live with the new system just as well.

* Region/Estate and About Land now feature the option "Restricted Pushing"

All of the sub-entries on this item: WOO-HOO! Now all that's left is add a push-restriction on a per-avatar basis. Let us set ourselves to no-push while on safe land.

* llGiveInventory() box now supports an option to mute the giving agent (user or object)

Nice one!

* Sounds triggered by muted residents are now muted

Very nice one! But consider a mute list for general sound keys as well, not only for sounds coming from a muted person. I maintain a script that puts empty sound files into the SL cache to stop the most annoying sounds (Banananananaphone anyone?) from playing at all. But it's tedious pulling the key from the cache, then adding it to the list of annoying sounds and restarting the script.

* Change LOD scaling of Object Mesh Detail slider to be higher quality when it's set to maximum

Again, nice one!

* Banned users cannot be heard from your parcel

I'm sure a lot of people will appreciate this fix.

* Group names, parcel names, classified names are now filtered to ASCII characters

I didn't see a problem with that until now. Does this mean, we have been able to use, say, German umlauts but not anymore? How about just using Unicode?

* 'Stop Flying' button is now disabled when flying over No Fly land

Whee! Great!

* Fixed a bug where scrollbars failed to appear when IM window holds more IMs than IM panel can display

UI fixes! You got to love them!

* Fixed a bug where color settings revert to black when changed from defaults

Another very irritating bug fixed! Thanks!

* Hitting enter while chat history has focus now focuses the chat bar

WOO HOO! Whoever fixed this one, you made my day :D

* No linux client-specific fixes in this release

Awww... ;)

I haven't got the time to check out 1.11 on preview yet, but given the list of changes this release is going to be awesome! Crossing my claws for no subtle bugs creeping into the release and hoping for pie menu fixes in the next release.

I'd say it's still a fairly big improvement. Without llPush the most you could do is move an av a sim or so, orbitting is impossible and pretty much all click to push and similar systems won't function.

Cage guns will be back in style true and there will probably be a splurge of guns that hit people with a very large fast moving physical object but now we can teleport anywhere and shields or movelocks will actually work.

Actually, it makes me wonder if some of the physics tricks will go back in style. I have one item that torques an avatar to 15k in the sky.... (no, I don't give it away)

But I'll agree it is an improvement. How long it takes for gunsellers to react will be key in how effective. And a more granular system is really what we should have here, such that I could turn off llSetForce if I wanted to (as an example).

Me neither, with the ultra short time to preview, but given the list of changes this release is going to be loaded with bugs !
