"feel" of land ruined by neighbour

Hey all. I have a small open outdoor stage for my acoustic shows on Satang 216,156,25. I woke up today to dollar signs and particles raining down into my land. It totally cheapens everything I was going for and makes it look absolutely trashy. Is there a way of stopping my next door neighbour's particles from raining into my space? I have put up a huge wall temporarily, but that is the last thing I wanted to do with my space... and the particles are still coming through. :(

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Abuse Report it.

Your neighbor cannot project anything onto your land; prims, particles, sounds, etc.

Get a Linden out there and they will take care of it.

Have you tried talking to them about it? I'm not entirely sure what the rules are regarding particles. Ask them if they might be able to decrease the life of the particles so they'd die before hitting your parcel. You can always post a question in SL Answers about what the rules regarding particles drifting onto your plot are.

I don't consider it abuse at all, it's likely innocent. I have sent a message, but the person is offline. Hopefully they will edit it so it doesn't do that - it looks like ass. And why do particles go through walls??

They're phantom, so they don't go around banging into avatars and such :p. If they don't respond or edit them soon I'd talk to a Linden through LiveHelp or ask a question on SL Answers about what the rules are.

Talking to a Linden is a last resort thing - I don't want to start off on the wrong foot with my neighbour. It would be ideal if they were allowed to keep their particle thingy... I would just love a setting that would let me keep neighbour's particles from raining on my land. :)

To the OP,

You're going about it right from what I've seen. A person should keep all items/prims/particles restricted to thier own land, and you -can- file a report about it. Talking about it usually resolves the issue, though it make take time to establish contact with different timezones.

One thing I would mention is that particles are displayed localy. This means every resident sees them differently. The general effect is the same, but no two persons will see the same efect of particles at the same instant. Something to remember when discussing it with your neighbor.

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.

Yeah, it is not an emergency, and I don't mind at all waiting for a response. I want to go about this politely, and not report it. LL has more important things to look after than a dollar sign rain on my land. :)

While waiting to get in touch with your neighbor you can turn particle display off.

Control Alt D should turn the debug menu on, if needed. The word Debug needs to show to the right of Help on the main menu.

Then on the menu it's Debug, Rendering, Types, Particles. Alternately you can use the keystroke" Control Alt Shift = "

update: worked it out with my neighbour - who is now a friend. See - no reporting needed. Turns out he lives about 1 hour away from me in RL. :)

I have a reverse issue on the same subject actually, I have particle emitting trees I bought that I am dying to put up..but since they emit particles on my neighbors land I haven't.
I'm wondering if there is any sort of solution (purchasable or otherwise) to restirct particles to a land parcel? Like some sort of boundary? It would be awesome if there was something available to either keep them in or out...
