...but can we not have some major updates for a while? I'm tired of this Wednesday downtime > download > asset server issues roundabout.

I concur.

The downtime and bug issues have yet to personally bite me but it has bitten the island I work for, which was closed for an entire day last week after the update due to a permissions exploit. I think weekly patches that address pressing needs (exploits) are an excellent idea, but features ought to be well-tested before being put into production. I know that the beta test ended long, long ago but we're nineteen minor editions past that beta and each one seems to need its' own beta period.

*sigh* Perhaps one day most of the bugs will be stamped out and there will be no more new features to implement.

Updates are good if they manage to reduce crashing. my settings are quite low after all, but still, lag and crashes more than 5 per day) are starting to bug me off.

One can only dream, ey? I, personally, agree with the idea of the Lindens releasing new *clears throat* 'features' on a monthly basis, and releasing patches for stability/bug fixes on a more regular basis.

/me crosses my fingers and hopes one of the more influential Lindens is actually considering our pleas

Sure, they can just leave the exploits the update is going to fix. ;)

Not happy about Linden Labs purchase of XStreet (formerly SLX) and OnRez. Will this mean LL will ban resident run online shoping outlets in favor of their own?

What concerns me is a roll out in another update when last week's is still not completely working. Asset server anyone?

This says to me "Hardware issue", and not related to the previous update.

Updates are good. They fix bugs, squash exploits, and continue development of the SL platform.

The dreaded Wednesday Updates :(

I totally agree...weekly updates are too frequent.
All too often problems are discovered with the update requiring even more down time.

I appreciate the fact that new features are constantly being added. Some of the new features of late are very welcome indeed.

However I would prefer to see larger feature updates on a monthly basis.
This would allow more time for internal QA testing as well.

I just want them to fix the grid so it does not running like crap!

I'm so sick of the SIM Dil fluxuating between 0.01 and .99 or dropping to 0.04 and staying there causing me not being able to move.

Trying to show friends what fun it is to take a boat ride, fly my hot air ballon or driving have been virtually impossible with the way the grid has been acting in the past week.

Everyone I've talked to has had problems like this. This is not an internet issue it's the grid and I hope they get this stuff fixed today!
