MUST we be down 5-6 hours every wed? Can you guys not figure out a better way to do this, let alone a time not smack in the middle of many people's play time?

All this downtime lately is really really old. Sems half the time I want to log in it's down... SL used to be be so reliable. What happened?

I just got back from court and couldn't wait to play SL to ease my mind from todays stress in the obviously not worth the money Real Life. And once again offline. Maybe they should sell some of the lagged up unused land they keep buying and get a better engine and just incorporate as much as they can at once like say Eve Online where they update maybe once or twice a year. That would be nice.

delta updates is what we need ;) something LL has been trying to figure out for several months.. even before i joined... in their last bug fix for the freezing issue...they mentioned this...but failed to match their words with actual progress... not timeline given, zilch!

i patiently await for detal updates where fixes can be performed and the grid stay up 24/7, next time we relogin, changes take effect... hello LL?

Login to this great game called First Life. I'm sure the SL downtime will just breeze by.

Just saw a movie and had dinner ... am going to blog for a while ... I'm good.

I agree.

5 hours every Wednesday is the perfect amount of time to dedicate to First Life.

I can get laundry, dishes, yardwork and grocery shopping done for the week between login attempts. ;)

There are real merchants using real money to start up their virtual businesses. If Secondlife wants to be taken seriously, this isn't just a game box you buy at Best Buy that brags about virtual avatar marketing. If the RL stock market was down as much as it was this week in secondlife, our world would be in a permanant depression. I'm focusing more on the merchants that spent hundreds of dollars, including sim land maintenance fees, and painstaking hours of building and creation of their products. Yes the residents deserve a better working world as a whole but not at the expense of hours consumed in the SL global economy. Obviously, SL is cute and entertaining at first for people that sit on pose balls, but it's the businesses that keep the residents. Keep shutting down that grid, it's real money being lost.

Well, if they are going to do as Robin said in one post, they are going to try to move away from the weekly update.

Also, there is a pattern that once there is a major update, there is usually two months worth of Wednesday downtime. Back when I started, they didn't have a set day to schedule the downtime, so this is rather an improvement, because then I know not to expect to be able to do anything in SL all day on Wednesday!

I kinda wish they'd to a new feature update once a month rather than adding them in as they get them done. Give them a month of Preview grid testing first. I wouldn't mind the weekly downtime if it was for just bugfixes and actual maintenence. Exploits should be fixed as soon as the patch for it is available, that one is a must.
