I've noticed that profile pics, uploaded from hard drive at whatever size (i.e., 512x380 to match the ratio of the default profile image) tend to go 'soft' or blurry quite often. Has anyone else noticed this, and if so, any solutions?

doesnt matter where in SL the image is, it needs to be in the powers of 2 format .... now SL automaticly does this for you but in the case of 380 its either crushing it to the point of blur or streaching it to the point of blur

that being said, along with every other texture, they are just taking their sweet ass time to load.

In my understanding textures class its harder to drive home the point when a 16x16 image takes as long to load as a 2048

WTH LL why does the textures take for ever after every major update geez

To get the best possible quality for the profile pic resize it to 256x256 (so it looks distorted before you upload it).

There you go, 256x256, and the profile format will automatically resize to fit. Thanks!

(And I agree with the rant generally, but I'm sure it's about cacheing.)

well yes the first time you log in i can see that ... but weeks afterwards it shouldnt take 5 min for a 16x16 texture to load, esp when the week before it was instant to ppl thats never seen it before
