Just wanted to post my recent blog entry here, because I feel like it represents a new kind of scam-attack that people may encounter during the SL experience.

I think you're jumping to conclusions, having read the report. I have been asked to sign NDAs on projects in SL which have been perfectly above board. Can't say whether this is a scam or a bona fide project, but just wanting you to sign an NDA isn't suspicious in itself.

When I went to a gaming company to talk, they wanted me to sign their NDA and to sign one from me too.

I don't normally have a problem with signing NDA's if they are from a known trusted source. Something about this guy was very fishy. He couldn't even "talk shop" with me.

Most people will do that.

Hmmm. I also didn't mention in my post that I googled the "non-SL name" he provided in the document and it came up associated with several Nigerian scams.

It was not a commonly found name to my mind.

Anyway, maybe I'm being foolish, but my intuition here is pretty strong, I feel.

Ah, sorry I didn't see that I thought you had googled and come up with nothing. Sorry - I must read more thoroughly before posting obviously.

I have spoken to someone else who has had this experience too, and also felt there was a problem, so, well done for warning people.

A somewhat important point to leave out, don't ya think? I concur with your assesment, even before hearing that last bit. But, I am a New York bred cynic prone to believe the worst. He was clearly a phoney.

I wouldn't sign any legal documents from someone who I haven't looked in the eye and shook hands with.
I'm not a born-and-bred cynic, but doing legaly binding stuff over the internet is not good.
