I had been living with a "Bush" sign in the middle of my land since I bought it some 6 months ago. I simply put black walls around it since the owner was asking 30k for 28 sq meters. A large adjoining plot came available, and I was ready to expand the marina, so I made the leap. I tiered up, and gutted my savings and bought it. The next day I log in to find another "Bush" sign just off the surface of the water, and the one I had covered had been raised out from behind the blind. To say I was hacked off would be major understatement. I took a snapshot to help me vent on these very boards. Then I checked the land these offending prims were over, and lo and behold, that lil plot was for sale for L750! I couldnt hit that buy land button fast enough, and all is well in Funadama once again

Nice surprise indeed

I had the same experience. Lazarus paid a visit to a sim I own land in two days ago, while I was tidying up my shop and reset the prices on all his lots. The prices are still somewhat high but compared to L$40,000 for a 62sq meter lot, L$1500 sounds a whole lot better.
I bought one of the lots as soon as I realized he repriced them. I am saving up for the other one.
Now, I am not sure if he is doing this out of good will, or his land fees are just starting to hurt him or what. But either way, I hope that he sets an example for everyone that's trying to grief people into buying huge lots for insane amounts of Linden cash.
If we can not have peace in SL, how can we hope to have it in RL -- and vice versa.....

Congrats on illustrating exactly how extortion works.
"Oh sure ... 1500 SOUNDS like a lot ... but it WAS on sale for (some ungodly amount that no one will ever pay)."

Never buy his land, let him choke on it for ALL eternity. We can't win when you feed his camp with your lindens. Maybe you work for him? Maybe this is just advertising ! Resmods !

Resmods ! Frankly, it's really hard to make that case to someone who has had a thorn in their side for ages, finally has the chance to remove it ... and is also concerned about what the next person to buy that particular bit of land will do with it. Because the truth is, someone WILL buy it. And one just never knows what the next owner will bring to the party. The desire to consolidate your holdings and protect yourself and your borders will almost always outweigh a call to "never buy".

Is this a Land and Economy discussion or am I missing the point?

From: Khamon Fate Is this a Land and Economy discussion or am I missing the point? You're missing the point. All anti-bush threads belong in the general forum to spam it up!

Sorry to have dissappointed you all but you were not the ones with the plot flanked with 3 20x20 Impeach Bush signs on 2 sides of your lot.
All apologies...

I'm glad you were able to rid yourself but paying 750L$ for 16m2 is paying 46.875L$ per m2 I have to agree with Hiro on this one. At those rates 45.8 per m a Sim would go for; L$3067084.80 = US$10,570.48

Cat Your calculation however compliant with linear reasoning, is eventually inaccurate for explaining the Land value model for SL. Lots 300sq meter and above are subject to the usual x number of lindens per sq meter rule. So you can take the 1sqmeter price of a lot say 512 in size and calculate the sim's value. But you can not do the same for a lot smaller than 300sq meter. These are inconvenience lots, their value lies in not in size but in location and use. So no, the sim I am in is hardly worth 10 thousand odd dollars. but thanks for playing anyway. Troy

Cat At one point I know he had two tiers worth of land. Only see one sim's worth allotted to the group now. On the profit level of an Eve Online scam and so stealth. Whose going to be next! Just, spend three month's time buying up small plots and make them really annoying! It's easy playing the character hiding behind the cause, just be really one dimensional by only talking about your cause. Slash prices on exactly half of the investment from insane to overpriced. Profit!
