Doable with a couple holes in the physics engine. Fun, too! :D

For a real kick, try llSetTorque and a 300m axis of rotation (hint: sit target).

Can you like attach whatever object is pushing you so you can keep going up?
At 52 million meters per second you'll get to the theoretical "end" of the sim in 82 seconds, assuming 32 bit floats. Then you might wrap around back to zero, or crash ;)

Now that would be fun to test. However, if the action of doing this caused Second Life to go all funny as a whole, would you be banned for griefing? :)

Besides finding out RR's form was that of a geriatric breakdancer, Shaun went off the edge... literally!

Maximum altitude was approx. 28,294,442 meters. It didn't get much higher than that but my av was still moving, looking like it was bumping against the top of the sim.

After falling from the heights

and being TPed back down, I went underground and started spazzing out.

As you can see hell has foot shadows too!

I only wish the landscape would break apart more.

Nice to see Jau, SteveR, Shaun there—and at the end Ice made a special guest appearance. :)

Thanxies to Snapzilla for image hosting.

Ahhh happy memories. :D

So, after playing with shooting other people into the air, I decided to give it a go myself...

I attached the pushers to myself and went for a ride. Final altitude 514737024 after about 30 minutes (I didn't time it exactly). Attaching the pushers means they have to push you and themselves, so it was a good bit slower than just pushing other people into the atmosphere.

No big secrets here, I just used llPushObject with a stupid high # on the impulse vector inside a timer in as many prims as I could. I'm sure there's lots of room for improvement on that.

I took snapshots, but they don't catch the debug's HUD info at those heights for some reason. I think I'll give it another go tomorrow when I have more time, and try to get good screenshots and whatnot.

514 million meters! :0

Highest I've ever been was 15 million meters, afraid to go any higher due to the rumor that going too high would permanently damage the avatar. Wasnt sure if it was true but hey, why tempt fate? But since people have gone higher without fail, I may try to reach 1 billion meters. Provided I dont destroy SL in the process :p

Awesome work, SteveR! Definitely a worthy accomplishment for the books!

...but I'm afraid you're already obsolete.

I've just created an object that can launch an av to almost 1 billion meters.
Instantaneously.

IM me for a demo. :D

Edit: Make that over 2 billion meters instantaneously.

Hang on... Ice now tells me that SteveR did the exact same thing earlier today. Is this true?

The plot thickens!!

Edit: Ah, but he used attachments apparently. Can he do it with nothing more than a 0.01-meter cube set on the ground? :D
