Okay this will read very funny...it will be like...ROFL, LMAO...etc...BUT read on...

I visited a newbie store and began buying all the new products for just one linden each. As I was shopping, little did I know that...YIKES...

I was wearing a guy's body! A SCARY UGLY guy's body...WITH my fishnet hose and short mini skirt, and my new LONG Henna hair...I guess ppl were sitting at their puters having a blast...no one said a thing to me...ROFL! As soon as I was finished buying whatever was in each box...furniture, houses, textures, bodies etc. I clicked the arrow to come back my avie and almost died!

I was able to go into my contents folder and get my body back, but my head is NOwhere to be found :-(( I have this ugly looking head with very prominent features and I had just FINALLY gotten MY female avies head just the way I wanted it :-(

Can anyone here tell me how to get my original head back?? PLEASE?

If you didn't save your shape after you finished it your SOL :( your gonna have to tweak your face again :(

When your buying newbie boxes always always always make sure to uncheck "Wear clothing now" :( There must have been a male shape in one of the boxes :(

If you're like me and you just customized the original shape and skin you were born in on Orientation Island then your shape and skin are probably still where they were originally:

In the Inventory window under My Inventory->Clothing->Female Shape & Outfit the items called Female Shape and Outfit Shape and Female Shape and Outfit Skin are probably what you're looking for.

That box is at the bottom left corner when you are buying contents of something. It's the only checkbox, can't miss it!

Yeah... this sure has been around awhile. It seems to get worse if there's connection unreliability on either side. (It used to occur much more frequently to me when TPs didn't have such a generous timeout period.)

The easy conditional is usually, looking to see if it happened after a teleport.

Once, in a panic, I relogged, and found that worked. That's prolly a nobrainer way to get YOU back!

hehehe, when I read the thread topic, I was sure it was going to be:

My (sibling / cousin / friend) logged on to my account, and without me knowing, griefed a whole bunch of sims! It was me! Help!

Its always a good idea to make backups of crucial items like your shape and skin (assuming the skin is copy, no transfer). I keep several with different names just to ensure that if I get "ruthed" or funkified on teleport, I always have another to go to.

Regards,

A guy I know on here, when he was a newbie, bought a box of stuff, I think from Yadni's place, found himself kitted out with a bustier, and fishnet stockings. He freaked and flew up, only to bump into this guy landing, who gave him a very strange look lol.

If I make a new folder and put my body into it, I will have that same head when I come back to it, even if it gets messed up? How come it didn't come back to me the same way originally? Is this because the new avatar body that took it's place also took its place in the folder? Thanks for your help :-)

The new avatar probably happened because you accidentally saved the "new you" in your inventory, thus wiping out/overwriting the "old you".

To save the version of your avatar that you want, you find the shape in your inventory (usually in Body Parts folder it's a brown icon and the wording is bolded type because you are wearing it), and make a copy of it. Then you take that copy and paste it into a New Folder called "!VZNevada". You can also paste a copy in every single folder you have if you want ;), and there it is, ready for you to wear again if it happens that your avatar gets messed up again.

Then, when you change your appearance again (and you will), always make a copy of the new shape (head and body are included in a new shape every time as far as I know) and paste it into your !VZNevada folder and delete the "older version" of you (or save it for posterity and future "come as you were when you started SL" events).

As embarassed as you obviously were, I wouldn't worry about it. I doubt anyone else even noticed.

It's not exactly an uncommon sight you're describing. :o

Hell..I've been in SL for over two years, and I went shopping the other day for some VD prsents. By the time I was done I was wearing layers of dresses and lingerie. It was kinda sexy.... :p

I agree that the "Wear Now" box should be unchecked by default.
