Some Ideas of mine to improve Neualtenburg

Neualtenburg Website Update

- Add a "tourism" section in the website
*Information about Neualtenburg attractions (altenburg, schloss, kirche, MoCA, etc.)
*List of Activities in Neualtenburg
*Bussiness Directory
*Mini Neualtenburg "Travel Guide"

Neualtenburg Monthly Newsletter
*List of future RA meetings
*City News and Events
*Local Bussiness advertisements
*Financial Report

Neualtenburg Fachwerk Update (see image at bottom of page for an example)

-As much as i love the Neualtenburg fachwerks Ulrika made, i think it's time for an update...
*The new fachwerks should have a stronger "city-like" feel.
*Different sizes and shapes of fachwerks; the city will have a more realistic feel
*Can be modified

Skating Rink in Marktplatz (below marktplatz?)

*A skating rink will be placed in the marktplatz; it will attract visitors
*Only during the winter months; when the ground texture is changed to "snow"
*There will be a small charge for the ice skates

Valley Beuatification

*Add more trees in unowned plots.
*Signs
*Benches, Seating
*Streetlights (like the ones in the platz)

Neualtenburg Walled City Beautification

*Streetlights at corners
*Seating
*Information Kiosks at major attractions
*Flags on buildings that are over the city wall height
*Poseballs in various locations (scenic areas, attractions) for pictures.

Feel free to comment and add your own ideas :D!

More Ideas
10-30-2005 18:33
Neualtenburg Informational Classes
- Held every few weeks, a few volunteers will show people around the sim and teach others about the neualtenburg government, membership, philosophy, and more.

Neualtenburg Wiki
- All bills, laws, deeds, and anything related to Neualtenburg will be stored in a wiki

Incentives
- Reward members who hold events in Neualtenburg, contribute to Neualtenburg, have bussinesses in Neualtenburg, and build exceptional buildings.
- Rewards can range from cheaper rent for a month to federal grants.

Government Office
- Create a small government office in the Rathaus
- Will contain information for upcoming SC/RA/Guild meetings
- Input your ideas to RA/SC/Guild members
- Add topics for upcoming RA/SC/Guild meetings

More Inworld Information about Neualtenburg/Welcome Area
- A notecard explaining Neualtenburg's philosophy, government, and membership should given automatically when one arrives in Neualtenburg
- A "welcome to Neualtenburg" sign by the teleporter
- Updated notecard about Neualtenburg

That's all the ideas I have for now! :D

These are great ideas.

Neualtenburg Website Update
An expansion of the website is next on my list for my work on the city. I should be starting within a week. I plan to implement the ability for citizens to log in, edit our wiki, check their land-use fees, and check their bank balance (a placeholder for now). I think a tourism page could be implemented in the wiki by all citizens, if you'd like. :)

Neualtenburg Monthly Newsletter
Yes. Even a simple monthly email would be great. The trick is we need someone to take on the responsibility who likes to write. As with anything done in the city, finding someone is the hardest part. :)

Neualtenburg Fachwerk Update
I am a strong supporter of this recommendation. The only limitation we have is that a single 144 m^2 lot can only support 30 prims, which is why the current structures are so simple. My hope is that, as people move in, they'll build their own versions of a fachwerk like Sudane and Dianne did.

Skating Rink in Marktplatz
This sounds like fun! Let's do this for christmas.

From: someone
Valley Beuatification
Because of the law we passed that allows anyone to make minor cosmetic changes to the city without approval, the addition of trees, signs, benches, seating, and streetlights can be done by anyone right now. :)

Neualtenburg Walled City Beautification
I really like the idea of having pose balls for photo ops! What a neat idea. :D

I also suggest different shapes and sizes for fachwerks. Seeing the same shapes can sometimes get boring :). Also currently the fachwerk(s) are set to "no modify", so even if some residents wanted to edit their fachwerks they can't :/.

I also have another idea relating to HUDs.

I suggest that an HUD tourist's guide should be created for Neualtenburg. When a visitor walks through one of the "main attractions" (altenburg, kirche, etc.) of Neualtenburg they would receive an HUD attachment. The attachment will state the history and other information about the attraction. I believe that this will be a creative and a much better looking alternative to notecards.

I've just added many trees and gas lamps to the Valley Area :D. Enjoy! I plan to add benches, and a few other things to beautify the Valley. :)

I'm going to put up my modifiable fachwerks again this weekend for purchase. I get a lot of requests to set structures to modify but I never get around to doing it. (Sorry.) Hopefully, having the structures for sale will solve the problem.

We once had Daniel Terdiman interested in starting the Neualtenburger Tagesblatt or whatever it was going to be called. Sadly, that back in December and it never went beyond the planning stage.

Looking at things like the Metaverse Messenger (and the amount of ads it's able to sell!) I see that there is a business opportunity beyond simple information. Now if I just had got enough spare time to do that...

Alternative: get a "Neualtenburg column" at the Metaverse Messenger? Do you think this could work?

It's possible. I know I've seen the M2 folks standing on top of my tower, so they apparently like SOMETHING about the sim. :)

well Ive been on a sort of break from my work for the herald, but collecting and compiling news is a SL and sometimes RL occupation of mine. I'd be happy to take this on, assuming noone objects.

if there are no objections, I will begin putting some basic ideas for this together next week after my SL wedding stuff is finished.

I was wondering if the original Fatchwerks are again for sale or if that was still planned/envisioned etc. I was thinking I might try selling mine, since it's something I spent more effort on than most of the products in it. On the other hand I would donate it to Nburg for sales if others would do the same.

I feel one of the best ways to market a place is to sell junk that has the "feel" of the place kind of embedded in it. A fatchwerk vendor with a variety of house types might be a nice marketing device, especially if it were set up in another location from Nburg itself. Perhaps in a snow sim with a lot of Nburg marketing propganda surrounding it. Perhaps in a German sim?

What do people think about setting up vendors off site in general?

If say.... three other people made Fatchwerk variations to put in the vendor, (and the original ones as well), I would also donate mine to the cause. The proceeds would go to the Neualtenburg projekt until such time as it disolved.

I also notice that when I do a search on SL boutique for "Fatchwerk" (various spellings), "Bavarian", "Stein", "Neualtenburg" etc., I get no hits at all.

Edit: I see Ulrika *is* offering the fatchwerks for sale again. :)

Well i was thinking of a Neualtenburg Embassy in one of the snow sims. People can visit the "embassy" to find out more information about Neualtenburg and by Neualtenburg items. :) Maybe somewhere near Anzere?

The Daniel Terdiman that writes for Wired.com? Does he live in Neualtenburg?

*grin* That's the sort of thing I once tried to start in Rothenburg. I had a Christmas Village and a poster about N'burg to start with but I'd also got in mind an N'burger stall and whatever else would attract interest to the sim. Sorry for butting in, by the way, was just passing.

What a stupid mistake of mine! Of course not, wrong Daniel — I wanted to write "Daniel Robertson" and not "Terdiman".

I mixed them up because I got a tip from one of the Lindens that Daniel Terdiman went to work for C|Net instead, and I guess this was a typical lapsus linguae...

Yes.

And your mall is so popular now!
Would that we had had that free advertising all this time.
Think of how many people we could have attracted.

I would be interested in working with Kendra Bancroft on setting up an embassy in Takalo which neighbors Anzere.

How about an Open City?
11-20-2005 10:29
I'm not sure if this idea has ever been tossed around, but what about an Open City?

Every month or three, invite the SL at-large to come and visit the city. Pack 'em on an open aired flying bus and tell them all about the government, the RL city it's based on, point out the businesses and apartments of prominent players, go over the non-profit pricing, yada yada yada.

Continue on to a tour of all of the nice homes. I have to admit I haven't ventured out to check out all of them, but I'm a huge fan of Aliasi's tower and love FlyingRoc's pad. Arrange for residents to be at home to give more personal tours and to share their personal building/scripting/whatever trick.

Wrap up the tour with a visit from someone from the city who explains the pricing and availability of lots and apartments.

Run them every 30 minutes for at least 10 hours spread out over a day or two.

To make it work, you'll need to have a comprehensive and robust marketing campaign.

I'm still wet behind the ears here, so I don't presume to know much of anything. I just think there is a big disconnect between how great Nburg is and what the general population knows. I was shown into town by Aliasi and she touched a bit on the government aspect, but I didn't get the whole picture until visiting the website and flying around town.

It would even be a good way for the people whose Nburg homes are second homes to get together on a regular basis. We could have one house be the Resident's BBQ HQ, where we could gather and hang out in between doing tours and greeting visitors.

I'd love to help put something like that together. Just an idea.

:)

Great! How did it go? How many visitors came? Did any become citizens? What kind of things did you do at the Expo? Who ran it? I'd love to talk to he or she to get the lowdown.
