I'm thrilled to say that Pendari will be joining on to Neualtenburg Phase 2 (she's got land set aside already), and she has eagerly offered to help us with our faction-building. Since Neualtenburg urgently needs to focus the issues that face us into a functional dialog, presenting choices for everyone to vote for, I'm happy to work with Pendari and the other citizens who've said that they're interested in the group to set up this thread to turn our positions into a concrete statement.
The following is a slightly edited Statement of the Primary Principles of the MPP as assembled last year. Following it is the beginning of an "Issues Facing Neualtenburg" list.
This is to invite anyone interested in these positions to contribute the following kinds of things to this thread:
1) Proposed revisions to the "Principles" themselves.
2) Additions to the "List of Issues"
3) Your opinions of what the stand of the MPP should be on any given issue.
When we have collected sufficiently clear positions on these matters, I propose that all members of the MPP meet "in convention" and agree on the final platform. At that point we will need to nominate at least three candidates for the RA (5 would be better, after all, we may sweep the RA

So... here's the orginal statement of principles of the MPP:
-------------------------------------------------------
Moderate Peoples Party MPP
--------------------------------------------------------
The community and its people are first and foremost and should be considered above all else when it comes to Neualtenburg and Second Life.
Our principles are these:
1. The protection of individuals’ rights.
2. Freedom of speech and expression for all people.
3. The equal representation of all peoples in government.
4. Making sure that any possible laws will benefit the community and its people.
5. Making sure that all are viewed as equals under the law, and that no individual or group is above the law.
6. We believe that education of the people about the project should be a high priority.
7. Though we realize our community will reflect real world politics from time to time we believe that only politics relating to our world of Second Life should be represented in the community at large. ( note from Sudane: real world values, however, are one and the same with those of Second Life )
8. We believe that by protecting the community as a whole that the individual will be protected and will have a place to grow within our community.

and here is the begiining of a list of important issues:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
A partial list of issues facing Neualtenburg..
1) Public works versus private enterprise. There are many “city” buildings and parcels which are not being offered to for sale to citizens. There are many good reasons for this.
Public land is roads, streets, the MarketPlatz, the site of the future museum; as well as buildings such as the Kirke and pub, the bank and the Department Store. And Rathhaus One and Two. Obviously certain public land must be maintained as public to serve the needs of everyone, such as the streets and roads.
Much of the public land, though, is preserved as public in order to maintain control over key elements of the “theme”; that which sets Neualtenburg apart visually from other places. The Department Store, for instance, is under the control of the city because of its prominent place on the Platz. The current plan keeps the building in that status, while providing space to approved vendors, a portion of whose sales might go to the city. Similar arrangements are planned for the other “city” buildings and spaces.
For a list of such spaces, use the Neualtenburg Land Journal PDF link at the site www.neualtenburg.org/services/land. There, all parcels, including city land, are listed.
The issue facing the new term of the RA is whether or not this strategy is a good one. Alternatives might include “privatizing” such property, under restrictions such that the goals of maintaining the Neualtenburg theme are preserved. Other posts in this thread can address this.
