A thread was closed and the mod suggested we take any discussion of theology out of this forum. I understand the thread was created for another purpose and was not progressing in the way the OP has intended. It was a tongue-in-cheek joking, not really a discussion.

But a serious question has arisen from it.

Are people in N'burg free to discuss religious matters? Is the N'burg forum only for matters involving the government of N'burg?

I would like a response on these questions, if possible, from those who have power over the government, when convenient. Thanks in advance.

I have no problem with discussion of theology...

Or anything else. I guess the idea is that maybe as the NB forum, a theological discussion would talk about theology with reference to NB. Like the Kirche meetings, or a state religion etc. Very general theological discussion might happen in the main forums, unless you want to reach NB citizens specifically.

The thread isn't closed, Kevn --you were just being told you were off-topic from that thread. Go ahead and discuss theology all you like in a new thread --um --like this one!

It was closed before reopening it. I think we were both being told, not just me. :)

The thread about the SC meeting minutes is seriously derailed now.
I know your part in that was very small Kevn but yes, another thread is a great idea regardless. :)

We all know that Ulrika and many of the big names associated with the Neualtenburg projekt are not big fans of Religion but I wish to take this opportunity to clear up any ambiguity or wrong-thinking on the part of the forum public out there that Nburg is somehow "against" Religion as an official position.

We run a secular state, but we also ascribe to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which is one of our founding documents.

Article 18 of the UDHR states:
From: Article 18
Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in a community with others and in public or in private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.
So no one can stop you talking or doing anything that is about your religion unless whatever you are saying or doing runs afoul of some other law like harassment or if you were using your religion as a cover for some other nefarious purpose. (I don't think you would or are of course.)

A good example is when someone responds to you with the phrase "God doesn't exist."

On the surface, it's just a statement of their belief and thus completely okay for them to express. In some circumstances though, depending on what's happening *around* the statement, what was said previously and the various personalities and personal histories involved it could be seen as intentional harassment. Especially if it's repeated over and over.

The pretext of closing the thread for religious purposes was a smoke screen. I contend it was closed due to criticism of the SC.

There were only three rather quippy good-natured religious statements which share a rather in-joke history between Ulrika and Kevn -- and of course my obligitory Bush-Bash.

The fact that the thread was closed for the reasons stated I find rather bizarre, especially considering it was left open for personal attacks which were not deleted.

This is a very insightful post which makes some interesting points, most of which I did not consider or think of until this moment. That's cool!

I hear about personal attacks, and I received a warning from Kendra, in another thread. I just don't understand how paraphrasing someones words is a personal attack. I wasn't attacking her at all. I was pointing out hypocrisy. I wasn't saying "if you're not a citizen, beat it", I was paraphrasing her, this is what she told me when I wasn't a citizen. At that time I never heard anyone suggest she was attacking me personally.

No problem, I forgive you. I understand now. If I ever attacked anyone personally, I'm always attacking everyone personally all the time under your holistic contextual way of seeing things.

Thanks for the apology and the clarification.
