Is there a real estate office in the city? If not, I would think that a great web-enabled real estate office would be a boon to the city. It could handle the distribution of information about lots available, covenants, etc. By web-enabled I mean the information on available lots seen on the website would match a map in-world in real-time with lot availability, prices, etc.

we have that right now:
http://www.neualtenburg.org/services/land/ though I'm sure as we grow and develop, the ways this info is found will get more diverse.. ![]() _____________________

The sad thing is that the project seems to be dwindling a little with availabe land slowly becoming less and less. There wer more then a million sqm available at a time. It is less than half a million now. I always thought it would be a really good idea to open up SLand to other land sellers (which seemed to be part of the original idea at least). On the other hand: I can understand that Rathe is not putting to much effort into it, with a very valid chance of being GOMed anyday. |

Yeah, I got that list, but associating those plot numbers and addresses to actual lots on the sim is a bit difficult. The virtual real estate office I have in mind would be able to teleport you to any available lot in an instant for viewing, then bring you back to the office where one can begin the purchase process and such.
Like an automated attendant that has themed "for sale" signs or markers placed on the lots that are available. The office would get periodic (2x a day or) back from these markers and plot them real-time on a map of the sim. People could click on marker and get info about that lot, maybe pay the marker a percentage of the land cost to hold it for X amount of days. With talk of getting a new sim in the near future, it would seem a system like this would be a great benefit to the city. The real estate office would also handle stall rentals for vendors and things of that nature. I'm looking at this as an incoming citizen unloading my mainland land and getting ready to buy land in the sim. I'm also looking at it as a smart move for the city I'm about to become a part of. I could easily see Neualtenburg becoming a multi-sim zoned community with different styles, languages, etc, and it would be a great thing to set up now, before growth comes. ![]() This idea stemmed from flying around the sim for 20 minutes trying to match lots with the list to lots in the sim. _____________________

I could see this as a real selling point for people wanting to become a part of N'burg. Anything that makes the prospect of selling out easier would help encourage people to buy in in the first place.

Well, I like that idea. A similar (but not equal) project was a "landmark HUD" to serve as an "automated tourist guide" — pointing out where the next interesting building/place is in Neualtenburg, and giving people a notecard when they are nearby. While this proposal by Eugene was neither discarded nor implemented (it's in a "limbo" state at the moment!), I think that something similar could also work for the available land plots.
If you're willing to spend some time doing something like a "plot teleporter", well, you can propose that to the RA for implementation — preferably with a budget with the required time and price ![]() _____________________

Cool, I will do so. My thinking was using a HUD attachment, too, one of an avatar bust along the bottom part of your screen that acted as a literal virtual real estate agent, with chat bubbles and all. Kind of like those flash-animated talking heads at www.oddcast.com, called vhosts.
I have a snapshot in my mind of what it is, so I'll write up a proposal and submit it. ![]() _____________________
