Winter is approaching fast, i think now is the time to change the texture into a more winter theme. I'll be more than happy to add some winter trees to the sim :). I would expect that the winter texture should be completed by the end of November or the begining of December, just in time for Neualtenburg's christmas market :).

Several months ago, Kendra suggested that we switch to a snow environment on December 1, which I think could be a great idea.

Changing the textures of the terrain takes all of 10 minutes. But changing all the summer and autumn trees would be a huge undertaking. And, it seems to me, that Neualtenburg will look rather peculiar with snowy terrain and summer and autumn trees.

Back in May, Eloise Pasteur and I tried to develop an automated seasonal tree replacement system. Thus the special package of Neualtenburg trees which is available for free in the General Store. But we were never able to succeed with the necessary scripting, so the project was suspended.

Please everyone offer suggestions, as it surely would be nice to have a snowy Neualtenburg for the holidays. As the technical "estate owner" Rudeen will alter the terrain textures in whatever way the community decides.

The covenant does state that property owners must change the season. We could just change the terrain and then have a 1 Dec deadline for everyone to replace trees that they originally placed. (I have most I believe.)
  1. Trees
    1. Land must have a minimum of four trees per 512 m^2.
    2. Trees must not obscure neighbor's views or penetrate dwellings.
    3. Trees should be changed to match the season.

The good thing is, that most of the trees in Neualtenburg are evergreens :D. So not much tree changing would be needed, we just need to add a few more "winter" trees to complete the look. Also, i'll be more than happy to help with the planting!

I'd also be willing to supply winterized building textures such as snowy rooftops and icicles and such for citizens to use.

Are we going to have a big Christmas tree in the square?

Or are denominational/religious issues such a concern that we cant say the "C" word or celebrate it? ;) I will volunteer to make a nice tree if we dont have one.

Of course we'll have a tree! The assignment is your's if you leave room for other people to hang ornaments :)

We can call it a "Big Holidays Tree" and not offend the non-Christians :)

Anyway, I hope I remember to drop a wonderful "Holidays Tree" someone gave me (I wish I'd remember who it was) to Kendra for her approval. It looks fantastic, but it's also incredibly primmy.

Unless I hear otherwise, I'll have Rudeen change the textures on Wednesday night, Nov 30, to the snow ones.
