Lease Renewal: Current and Future Goals

We have approximately 45 days until our first lease in the sim expires. At that time we'll have to present what goals we've achieved in the first four months and give our proposal for the next four months to Haney.

The fundamental goal of the project is to meet Haney Linden's challenge of creating a compelling destination for members of SL which beautifies and preserves the snow sims. Our original vision was to go beyond a typical group or themed SL build and to create an experimental community of artistic, ambitious, talented individuals who want to explore the limits of architecture, culture, and politics in Second Life.

I feel that we have certainly broken new ground in the area of architecture, culture, and politics. My only concern is that the sim hasn't become a destination for all members of SL yet. Things are starting to change now that Gwyneth is hosting events. I'd like to keep that trend going by challenging the provisional Representative branch to schedule some additional events, either regular or special, to help pull in some more members of SL. I'd like a couple of notable events to add to our list of accomplishments.

Next, Jacqueline suggested that we should begin a membership drive in SL as opposed to the forums. I would like all of you to try to recruit two or three people that you would feel would make a positive contribution to the city. It would be smashing if we could get our voting population up to 100 before the first election.

To increase the amount of visitors coming to the city I will focus on creating retail space that we can advertise as a shopping mall in the SL directory. Kendra is also working on a dedicated store for our Steins. We'll be creating these retail spaces next to the city square.

Finally, for those who are interested in promoting their parties in the upcoming election, now is the time to craft your proposals for the next lease. I consider a solid proposal for the next lease a critical part of every party platform.

Just to add my L$ 0.02 (while supply lasts :) ):

I have exchanged some views with Ulrika regarding future events in Neualtenburg. I have broadly proposed her 3 different types of events:

1) Attract politically-minded residents - yes, even detractors! It's more likely that we will get new residents who don't have patience to wad through the forums, have missed Neualtenburg completely, but suddenly, with a few (regular) events on issues pertaining to political matters, find out what we are doing and are eager to join.

The first of these events - pending approval of my Meister Ulrika :) - will be next Tuesday, held in the Biergarten, and will have the theme "Collective vs. personal rights & duties in SL". This will be inserted into the regular scheduling of the Thinkers' group, and I expect to attract 10-12 people per session (it's the usual number for the Thinkers').

These types of events will focus on people interested in participating in Neualtenburg as residents.

2) Attract customers to Neualtenburg's vendors. These will be more general and appeal to a broader base. Large events will be things like the Oktoberfest :) In my case, I'll concentrate on small events, which are easy to setup, but which can have regular schedules - besides the church meetings, I'll probably have some things on German or Middle-Ages history, with a short trivia or so.

3) Regular classes. This is still open to discussion, since the main purpose would be to have "paying events" (ie. where attendants pay something to the City Treasury directly) and it seems that classes are not a good option. Still, I will probably host my own Mentor events here (since Char is now allowing the Mentors to host events beyond Dore/Oak Grove), eventually with a trend towards jobs in SL and SL economy, to attract people to the Guild :) . Newbies seldom pay/donate money, but ah well, at least they'll get to see the city :)

I mentioned this to Kendra yesterday, so I'll mention it here as well. :)

A lot of people have been asking me when I'm going to start back doing my originals only auctions again. They tend to pull a lot of people. And I personally love doing the event. So I would like to do this event in Neualtenburg on a regular basis if there is no objection. I think the only area really suited would be the town center area. I already have a makeshift platform with seating that I carry around and plop down to use for the event. So cleanup afterwards is easy. I will also probably sell the land that I currently have in Barcola (which is where I was originally hosting this event) and donate that small land amount (less than 200sm I think) to the project.

I also have a models group and do fashion shows on a semi-regular basis. I would love to host some of these in Neualtenburg as well. Again, I have the makeshift runway and dressing room and seating area that I just plop down. hehe.. So my events should not interfere with any current builds. :)

Models group?? Fashion show???

*plop* googled eyes fall from their sockets *feels pulse*

*breathes deeply*

Ok, ok, hehe, I didn't know that, Pendari, hmm, ok, yes, I'm a clothes addict myself, I'm actually glad we get such low stipends, or else... *coughs*

*drinks glass of water to steady nerves*

Whew. Feeling better now!

When will you start your fashion shows in Neualtenburg? :) :) :) :) Wow, it seems that I have been hanging around in the forums too much, instead of attending to events... erm... or just being distracted...

That's really, really, really a good idea! :)

haha! Yes, my title of bosslady was actually given to me by my models. :p

I would love to start doing fashion shows again very soon. I'll probably get with others in the guild that are planning events so we can get an "upcoming" schedule going. Don't want to overlap events if we can help it! :)

PS: As a mentor, I too would be up for doing some SL basics classes and such in the city. :)

I'd like to have some events as well. Perhaps some politicaly charged events on the possibility of government in SL. It will definately bring some people out and they might just want to get involved.

Perhaps even just putting up a sign or two in shops, that give out information and a landmark (upon request, not spam. I hate spam.), would help.
