I would like to see a city directory, a map showing stores and public buildings. Does such a thing exist?

Tai, could you please explain here what exactly should be listed in the City Directory?

Well, I'd like a map so I could look up places in the city without having to wander around exploring. I'm sure our visitors would like this too. Perhaps it could be displayed in the marktplatz. (I still don't know where Altenburg is, lol.)

In the interest of privacy I doubt if the residents would want their home addresses published, but I'd like to see where the stores are, categorized by type of items sold, and where the important public buildings and landmarks are.

Another possibility would be to have a welcome brochure (notecard) for visitors that describes places of interest and provides both the street address and location coordinates.

Also, I'd be glad to help in anyway I can. I can collect data or work on a map. I probably have any software required to put it together.

I also am here to help although very busy at present. I have years of PhotoShop, Illustrator, PageMaker and InDesign experience, but a "brochure" currently would have to be a notecard wouldn't it?. That's just typing.

The only alternative is that I was going to make a brochure for the last election (never got around to it), that was on a prim, so we could make one like that, but lots of folks find those kind of unwieldy given the fact that they have to be so huge.

There is already a map on the Marktplatz, but it does not show what you like to. Maybe you can take the map from http://neualtenburg.org and adopt it to your needs. Attach it here and let us discuss whether to replace the map on the Marktplatz by yours.

Imagine that you arrive to Nburg via the bridge. Now you are standing in front of the fountain, on your right side you will see the Rathaus. Take the street at the very end of the Marktplatz that turns right. After a few meters there will be a diagonal street on the left with my green house on the right side of it. Go ahead. This will bring you directly to the Altenburg.

But it is already public on http://neualtenburg.org and you can see the owner also when clicking on the appropriate plot and choose "About land ...".

Besides this I would like to have residential signs ("gebaut 2005 - Melina Loonie";) on the wall next to the door to even make this more visible. Especially the available houses could be marked with a sign saying "buy me".

Good idea, maybe something like we have at the Gasthaus for meals ... maybe a copper plate at the main gate.

One of the things I did when I did a directory for another city that was sim wide, was to stand inside each shop and create a landmark. I was able to edit the landmark name to reflect the name of the shop. In the directory listing, I then put a copy of that landmark under the name and description of the shop.

Then as visitors were browsing through the directory notecard, if they found a shop they liked, they could click on the landmark and choose "map" and it would give them the red beacon and arrow to follow. I had a lot of positive feedback on this, and after the first initial time doing this, it does not take much work to add new listings as needed.

I would be happy to gather these landmarks if you all would like this feature in the directory! :)

This is a good idea. Melina and Tai, you guys should work together to create a map with Dianne's help. Pendari has a nice approach providing visitors landmarks they can click for the red light of direction. If you guys get really creative and need scripting help feel free to sign Digi and I up to the team (I love volunteering her services)...

Here is the map.

Would you mind to modify and show it to us so that it meets your requirements? I am pretty sure, that all of use would find this map useful! :-)
