I just visited Neualtenburg, and i have some suggestions and some questions.

1. Ulrika, what is LL saying about changing the landscape of the sim? (the four seasons)

2. Neaultenburg needs more beautification projects: fountains, gardens, flowers, trees, straightening out bumps in the roads, leveling the land, a visitor center/information center, market stalls in the town square.

3. Variety of buildings, if most of the buildings look the same, it does not appeal well to visitors. (Fachwerk contest?)

4. Also, a post should be placed on the Fansite section of the SL Forum about the New Neualtenburg website.

5. Also a more detailed map of Neaultenburg so visitors can get around easily.

Note: I wish I could help with the building of Neaultenburg, but I can't build for my life! :p

I was thinking that the Neaultenburg city part should be a little like Rue D'Alliez.

We have the ability to change the terrain texture on the private sim without a problem. I think at least initially we're going to go with a fall theme to match the website. As soon as we have some time (right now we're busy figuring out the land permissions and financial system behind the scenes), I'll have Sudane change it over to grass. In a few weeks I'll work on a custom fall terrain map and add some browns and fallen leaves.

That's one of my big goals -- to redo the landscape. I plan to replace all the fachwerks with slightly newer versions, smooth out the roads, delete plywood colored prims, smooth the land to eliminate snow in the buildings, and add lots and lots of vegetation to the landscape. Right now we can't do it because the land permissions aren't set. As soon as we find time to do that I'll get started. It might have to wait until next weekend, as Sudane will be away with family this weekend.

Other modifications such as an information center and market stalls will mostly likely have to wait until we get more folks moving in. The goal is to move from a model where just a few of us do the work, to where all those who are a part of the sim pitch in together.

I do have a partial solution to this. I have fachwerks now that have different colors, roofs, and wood. As soon as the land permissions are set, I'll put them in.

I'd love to have a fachwerk building contest. The only downside of that is that a low-prim (25 prim) fachwerk that looks good is very very hard to make. Mine took me about a month of weekends to get it in its current form.

Yes. I'll do that tonight! :)

I'm actually working on a detailed map of the city right now, as part of our effort to divide up the sim to sell land.

I've heard about that. I'll have to check it out and get some ideas. :D

Thanks for posting Eugene. You always have excellent recommendations.

Actually, I kind of like it when the buildings are similar. I mean, you need to know that this is a church, that's an office, etc. But part of the coolness of a themed sim is the "family resemblance" of the architecture. But then, I suppose they could be varied by a good margin and still fit the theme...

Few More Questions...
05-01-2005 19:09
1. How will the residential area of Neualtenburg look?
- Will there be streets between each housing lot?

2. How will the inter-sim teleporting work?
- Each lot gets a teleporter?
- Teleporter for every few lots?

3. What areas of Neualtenburg will be residential?

4. Should there be a "sky city" above Neaultenburg with apartment rentals, and more stores?
(just an idea :p)
- If there are enough prims available

1. Hmm, indeed, that is a good idea. Should we put it up to the vote?

2. Originally, on the very very old proposal, there was a plan to set up intra-sim teleporters for the landmarks, as well as giving out other directions. There *could* be a "master teleporter" near the hub listing *all* plots. But putting one at each plot would be abeit too much, although a simple teleporter to jump to the "main teleporter" could be an alternative. I'm always afraid of having too many scripted objects around. Neualtenburg is one of the few sims that has some lag due to textures only - it's a pretty low-scripting zone.

3. It'll be shown on the "new map". :) Basically, the city centre - the "old city", so to speak - will be mostly small shops (but there will be residences as well), and there has been talk to rent some of the houses there as well. Outside the city walls - where most of the plots for sale are - there will be mostly a mix of residential/commercial areas, although I'm not sure if there will be specific plots just for residential areas and other just for commercial areas.

4. Hmm, a city in the sky... now that's a thought :D Especially if it's high enough so that you can't see it from ground level (should be easy to do). We definitely have to make a calculation on how many prims are available.
