I'll be releasing a free simple vendor for the Port by the end of the week. The goal is to create a simple script that can be placed into a prim with a minimum of configuration that will allow artisans to easily sell objects, track sales, and pay their overhead fee (10% to Kendra). To help support the upkeep of the website and code in the vendor and on the server, I would like to charge a small fee to users for access to the online services. For those who don't care for online tracking, the vendor would charge no overhead. For those who would like online tracking, I was thinking of charging beetween L$1 and L$5 per transaction with a maximum charge of L$350 per month per person. What do you feel about this range? Is the maximum too much or too little? Should it be percentage based? Let me know what thoughts you have. Of course, nothing is official until approved by Kendra. ~Ulrika~

So this script would then be placed into products? Excellent.

So this script would then be placed into products? Excellent. I think a Port vendor would ensure that you're receiving support for your land-tier contributions and provide you and others with the tools to track exactly who is selling and contributing how much. Currently, the script is meant to replace the built in SL feature, that allows users to sell the contents of a prim by checking a box and setting a selling price in the properties dialogue. The script would reproduce the ability to sell items out of a single prim with the absolute minimum of overhead, to keep it simple for users. Folks selling items out of prims would simply have to uncheck the "sell contents" box, edit a file to add a price, and drop in the script. ~Ulrika~

~Ulrika~ I think is truly a marvelous contribution to The Port. Brava! I also wish to make sure you feel fairly compensated for this. While I do expect Meisters of The Port to perform public works as part of their due to the community, this really seems above and beyond. Can't wait to see the results!

Apologies for the delays on most of my works. I have been preoccupied with big changes at home and several deadlines at work. By the middle of next week I should be around more in world and in forum. Despite my preoccupation, I have managed to make great progress on both the vendor and bumper car, adding in oodles of pseudocode. I now just have to code it up (myself and with help). I'm very excited about the changes to both and hope they are a benefit to the group (vendor) and fun for all (the cars). They're certainly my most ambitious objects to date. I'll post more on the new features as they are complete. My goal is to remain more focused in SL than in the past, finishing current projects before I move onto the next. Given my reduction of time in world, I have to be diligent or I'll never get anything done. ~Ulrika~
