We will be having an Oktoberfest celebration and city kick-off party this Sunday at 6 pm PST in Neualtenburg!

If there are some quick builds or items you would like to put up for the party, now is the time to do it. Let me know if you need anything added to the vendor.

Neualtenburgers who show up before 6 pm will get a free animated chicken hat!

In preparation for the Neualtenburg kick-off party and Oktoberfest celebration, Kendra Bancroft and I have created several unique, scripted and animated objects.
  1. For those who enjoy breaking into the chicken dance to the sound of Rosamunde, we have the Neualtenburg Chicken Hat. The hat contains over 30 seconds of music and synchronized animations delivered either by touch, voice, or random. It's a must see and is destined to become an SL classic.
  2. For those who aren't satisfied with walking around with the default SL-animated soda can, we've created a line of animated beer steins, textured by Kendra Bancroft and animated by Ulrika Zugzwang. Each stein contains a dozen animations and sounds which are assembled randomly for over 60 unique sequences.

To see pictures of the chicken hat and stein and to find details on other animations, take a look at my new Oktober Online Catalog. Do check it out. It's a feast for the eyes and much more enjoyable then reading text in a forum. ;)

Oktoberfest was a tremendous amount of fun! I wanted to thank everyone who came out to the party and give a special thanks to Kendra who showed up early, cleaned up the build, created barrels, and made free beer and pretzels for the guests. Zero Grace, who showed up in a great chicken outfit, has pictures and a description of the event in his weblog.

It also was a successful test run of the official vendor which is capable of dividing sales among artisans and the city. The vendor sends all information to a central server which should shortly have a web interface to check your sales and city income. If you have products to sell in the city, contact me and I'll give you a copy of the vendor (beta-version).

Kendra's next holiday event will be for St. Martin's Day. Falling on the 11th of November, German children celebrate St Martin's Day as the start of Carnival season. They walk around the streets, after dark, carrying lanterns, and singing special songs. A bit like trick or treating, they are rewarded for their singing and the beauty of their lanterns, with sweets and other goodies. Although the holiday is on the 11th (Thursday) we might move it to a weekend.

Finally, I want to remind everyone that we all share this city equally! You are welcome to create events with appropriate themes (PG, related to Neualtenburg) any time you want without any special permission.
