Dear fellow citizens
This just to announce that I have as of today registered my own company as an incorporated entity with the Neualtenburg Chamber of Commerce.
The company - Mirabeau Scribe - has been incorporated with a deposit of 10,000 L$ in escrow with the Neualtenburg Bank. It is therefore able to honour all and any obligations entered into to that total amount.
The company will offer assistance to anyone in need of some support to deal with the bureaucracy and paperwork of writing contracts, registering one's company in Neualtenburg and so on.
I expect the primary customers to be architects and designers who would rather spend their time and energies devoted to the creative process rather than to submerging themselves in paperwork.
In time I hope to be able to offer freebie templates for various legal documents such as builders contracts, company registration forms, employment contracts, loan documents and similar at my office in Talenstrasse 2205 in Neualtenburg.
More comprehensive guides and manuals and personalised services will be made available at a fee.
The benefit I see from incorporating as a company in Neualtenburg is that I am able to offer my customers and sub-contractors a guarantee that my word is worth 10,000L$: The impartiality and rigorous procedure of the Scientific Council and the legislation supporting our company registration will ensure that anyone with a legitimate claim against my company will be honoured to the fullest extent possible by the law. This is something unique for companies incorporated in Neualtenburg and not easily offered by SL "companies", who have chosen not to register here.
I understand that another company beat me to being the first to incorporate under Neualtenburg Company Code. Might I propose that they contribute also with a post in this thread to give a little detail about their business and the benefits they see of registering here? Hopefully, we could start a tradition of having newly registered or incorporated companies post an announcement to this thread to signal to the wider SL community what companies are in fact backed by Neualtenburg guarantees.

Despite my current state of belligerence, I'm glad to see someone moving forward under the incorporation law.

Great stuff, Diderot! Congratulations! I'd definitely appreciate your efforts, and now that you have gone through the paperwork, I'll need your services as well... really, I mean it. I just sell a handful of items, but why not take the opportunity to incorporate as well? After all, these sales are what allows me to pay for the rent

This just to keep the thread alive and maintain the tradition of announcing the registration or incorporation of new companies in Neualtenburg. I am happpy to tell you that the Neualtenburg School N.Inc. has been incorporated as a company owned by Flyringroc Chung, Claude Desmoulins and yours truly with a deposit in escrow with the Neualtenburg Bank of 10,000 L$ I believe. Perhaps we can persuade the chairman of the board - Claude Desmoulins to post here with a little elaboration of what the ambitions of this exciting new institution is? Furthermore, Gwyn's Utterly Useless Devices N.Reg. has become a Neualtenburg registered company, which means she has the benefit of guaranteeing buyers, employees and sub-contractors that they can have disputes over agreements and contracts arbitrated between them by a neutral third-party: The court system of Neualtenburg. The company is owned by Gwyneth Llewelyn, who has operated a small shop out of Gwynethstrasse for some time now. I am informed that the shop might be located in the Marktplatz soon should she win a lot in the upcoming auction. The Museum of Contemporary Art will also very soon become a registered company (operating on a non-profit basis) in Neualtenburg. We just need to get the trustees together for a meeting! Pelanor how's your incorporation going? When you finalise it don't miss out on posting it in this thread for us all to see. Feel free to send me an IM should you need any help in tackling Neualtenburg bureaucracy

Sudane Erato ~ Environments (creating natural landscapes and environment-friendly buildings) will soon be incorporating under the new rules. Check out our new website at www.tospitimou.com. We may wish to develop a "seal" indicating a company's status. Sudane

Check out our new website at www.tospitimou.com. We may wish to develop a "seal" indicating a company's status. Sudane That website looks great Sudane! I love the text you put in there. I've been meaning to ask somebody to put in easy to understand words the benefits of registering as a company in Neualtenburg because I can't write a sentence that's less than 20 words. And I noticed you did just that for your web page. That seal is an excellent idea! I think it's at heart a guild or CoC matter to devise such a seal possibly in parallel with some recommended business practices. Possibly the seal could come with an issue number uniquely identifying the registrant and enabling easy lookup in a company registry independently of any obfuscations or doubts about company names and so on. There's a lot of great ideas coming from the guild at the moment. I wish we could have some more resources added to that branch of government to execute them. It's a bit easier in the RA and SC since we're a collegiate of people who can work in tandem - with the guild it's harder since there is no formal structure to my knowledge to support the delegation of work to the same extent. Let this be understood as a less than subtle encouragement to all our new citizens to rush to join the guild. This is just the right time if you'd like some influence in how things are run in Neualtenburg.

Sudane, I have registration for you. Am I missing any other steps? Thanks... I'm also looking for a microplot for the company. When the marketplatz opens up, I'll try to get an office there also... I had this microplot idea to run by you guys. Say you're two foreign parties needing to do a large contract transaction. Each party buys (and keeps for convienence) a microplot. Now they're both citizens under the SC. Then they escrow funds either with me or the bank of NB until the transaction is complete. Contracts notarized, and preapproved by SC commercial court...of course. Whaddya think?

I think this incorporation law might keep out good business people. I think it would be better if the city government offered select businesses, depending on their service to N"burg, access to a shop and possibly the promenade. At this point N'burg is going to have to compete with the main land. A shop owner can buy a plot and set up shop. Here there is tons of red tape, and a big deposit. In the USA the states compete with each other to attract business. They offer discounts on services, low taxes etc etc. I don't see how many businesses will be attracted to these stringent terms. For N'burg to flourish business has to bring excitement. Just my humble opinion

Of course you're right...

Kevn, you're totally right. The incorporation option with escrow is for a small number of businesses that need to enforce contracts. A number of citizens already have shops open and operating without being Neualtenburg Registered Companies (NRCs).
I'd like to see some lively retail shops in the Platz area to attract business.

What constitutes "lively"? It is my understanding that the Platz shops will be auctioned off, which means you could end up with any type of shop - the typical SL mall. Or, you could set out an RFP - ask for Proposals as to what people are intending to do with the shop and then select those which best fit the vision for the Marktplatz, whever that might be. Then again, this may have already been discussed and decided.

Salzie,
The Platz parcels are subject to a special covenant document which one can find [post=925875]here[/post]. It gives the Guild the authority to regulate what sort of business may be conducted.

While you can put up your own build, I'd really like to see heavy traffic retail in the 2 glass front shops near the telehub...Just my own 2 cents.
