To the Guild: Neualtenburg Telehub - what about making it a contest?

Dear Guild members,

I'd like to suggest a first contest to attract visitors to Neualtenburg II - design the prettiest telehub :)

It could be a nice mix of "bavarian medieval" and modern/post-modern as well. Imagine a little chalet where you "drop in" and then have a ski-lift to bring you up to Anzere. Or, if someone is so daring, a tiny train station, and you have something like the monorail in Spitoonie to ascend the slopes towards the city. I'd love to see that :)

So I'd say, since this is a new, public structure, we could either comission it to the Guild, or make it a public competition for the best design :) I vote for the latter. We'll be able to attract more people that way.

I also think that the Telehub, despite having a in-world teleport system for the landmarks, and a good view towards the Casino, should have space for advertisements, like the Linden telehubs, and a copy of the Neualtenburg vendor.

Depending on when we should do that event, I'm willing to sponsor up to L$ 3000 for the first prize ;) (yes, I'm taking in account that we still need to give Talen's alt some "starting money" for buying the casino machines - btw, Talen, do you have that alt set up or not? :( )

What do you think about the contest for the telehub?

We already have some groovy machines that are being tossed together by a (secret) hero of the city. He's already written the code that integrates them into our vendor and the sales are being recorded. He still has some work to do but things are coming along. As for the alt, I think he will serve as the pool of funds, as all games remain in his ownership and earnings will be automatically sent our way. (If I understand it correctly.) So we're all set!

I love it. I would be more than willing to match your prize money. We might have to wait until after we build our city population up again, though. :)

I think that the telehub should be a simple square platform, in the middle of the Market Place with a view of the Casino, marked off with phantom "velvet ropes", so people don't congregate at that spot under a "rezzing-in" arrivee. That way the advertising can be all around them, in the form of the shops themselves, and whatever signs grace the shops and the Market Square. And, of course, the casino.

BTW, can the telehub be rotated in such a way to orient visually the arrivee? It seems to me that when I arrive at a given telehub, I'm always facing in the same direction. I should think we'd want to decide on that direction rather carefully.

Yes. It makes sense that the telehub should be in the center of the city, preferably in the town square. We could have one of Gwyn's teleport signs near the rez point too. :)

I don't know! I never thought of that. We'll have to experiment.

Once we figure out this private sim thing, I'm going to write a FAQ for other new sim owners. :)
