Hello!

I'd like to introduce myself to all of you while I'm in the forums reading, trying to gather data on the history of the arts, such as it is in N'berg.

BTW, Thank you for having me as a citizen; though I have other lands in other sims, something tells me that as time marches forward, N'Berg will become my permanent residence and touchstone for my SL.

Firstly, I cant seem to find much thats current concerning the MoCA in the threads. Secondly, inasmuch as it is possible, I'd like to conduct as much of the business of the MoCA in-world as is possible; the paradigm shift between desktop/browser and SL client is a bit unselttling and robs me of the immersiveness of the SL experience.

Not that I won't come to the forums as needed, mind you :)

Believe it or not, I have some pretty fair qualifications for the job before me. I am a second-year student pursuing an associates degree in Fine Arts. I have about 14 hrs left to graduate, though that does translate into years for me as I'm a part time student, and full time father. I also run a small networking consultancy. The hours remaining iin my coursework all deal with purely academic subjects; history, govt and physical science.

All of my studio and arts-related classes have been completed. I am presently on the deans list, with a 3.6 gpa. I have just turned down Phi Theta Kappa for the third time; I don't think its too smart to pay someone to tell you how smart you are.

In RL I am a very active artist, having shown work in more shows as a student than many artists do in their entire professional lifetime; I am quite prolific (though others may be more so), turning out anywhere from 7 to 15 'works' per year, and innumerable experimental or preliminary pieces and maquettes in the periphery. On occasion, the macquettes or sketches become works in their own rights. I work with anything and everything thats available; paper canvas oils acrylics watercolors photoshop plastic C4D wood TRASH is my favorite thing :)

In RL professionally I am a computer and networking expert. I have been a systems admin on unix boxen of various types for over ten years; I have been a programmer and general PC type for over 25 years. There isn't much about a computer that escapes me. In my current business incarnation I am doing quite a bit of database translation work, migrating data from ancient legacy systems to modern open standards based systems. Needless to say, scripting is something I'm soaking up like a dry sponge in a full bathtub.

If it involves art, artists or the arts, I have an authoritative and exhaustive if not completely expert opinion. The same could probably said of computers, and just about anything computer or network related.

I also believe in blowing my own horn! LoL

I hope to be able to get the museum up and running in fairly short order; my only source of anxiety is that it would seem that the govt of Neualtenberg moves with all the speed typical of meatspace governments; and I -really- am loathe to think I might spend six months or a year to get a plan of operation through the proper channels.

I'd like to have something working on a timeframe more like six or seven DAYS. :)

But I understand that that may be unrealistic ;^)

In any case, its very nice to meet you all, and I look forward to being a part of and serving in this community for some time to come.

Thank you all!

With warmest Regards,

It's good to know that my good friend Fletch will be taking care of my museum (I was the architect).

;)

Congrats man! I can't wait until the opening show!

Heh, well — not wishing to 'moderate' the enthusiasm (since the City has had so little enthusiasm in setting up a working arrangement for the museum — despite the big enthusiasm in building it), yes, it's true things can take a bit longer sometimes...

Still, I hope you can work with the Guild to present a proper budget at the RA, which, I think, will probably only meet on the 22nd...
