No I dont mean a Prim that reflects like a Mirror but a Prim that once you manipulate it a simple Check box that would MIRROR the entire shape.

Currently there are + and - numbers to achieve this in some cases but in others there is no way to Mirror a Prim.

Recently I created a spiral stair case and had it going up great and then through the numbers was able to Reverse it and make a mirror Image. However in conjunction to doing that it in essence flipped the prim. Thus you could walk up one but the other you could not as it was not a true mirror and acted like a box instead of what the orginal one did.

So I ask does anyone else think we need a basic Mirror Option Put on the Prim Command structure?

If so please reply here. Maybe we can get some attention to this Issue.

Sincerely, Shadow

Duplicate As Mirror would be nice for linked objects as well as single prims.

My mirrorator hasn't been updated to deal with all the new shapes and features yet. Sounds like it might not be able to. I'll have to experiment.

I could use that mirror option too. Especially since I'm not a numbers builder. :o

I agree. A mirror checkbox would nice.

In the meantime it's possible to mirror objects but it's often more complicated than reversing the paramaters, particularly if an object is cut. Don't remember the exact formula/techinque to use, but I bet someone else will post it. (If not, I'll haul some examples outta my inventory and check how I did it)

Olympia, Agreed most can but there are a few that have inverse limitations on them making it impossible to truly mirror them. It is one or two prims I have been so focused on rebuilding my vendors I cannot remember which ones right now but I can tell you that I know there is one at least and thats the Ring and Torus.

But yeah an autocheck even for Linked Items would make life sooooo much easier overall.

I agree that a miror function would be VERY usefull. I think it will be very complex, maybe impossible in some case, to create a mirror of some complex objects only using the parameters of the prims. There is some conditions where the inversion of the parameter create unexpected result in the U-V structure.

But, my suggestion for Lindens would be to simply take the resulting objects, and make a miror not using the parameters but directly by manipuling the Vertex (x,y,z,u,v). So they shouldn't inverse the parameters, but directly the spatial information of each vertex (really easy).

Olympia, I'd like to see this "formula/techinque", maybe there is an easy way that I never though about! ;)

I vote yes!

A mirron option would be nice, especially if you could select either mirror horizontal or vertical.

I'm pretty sure I've gotten a mirrors from wacky torus shapes, but it was a hassle. Just inverting the paramaters didn't work. I had a formula I applied to the cut paramaters of shape A that determined the cut paramaters of shape B. My inworld time is limited this week, but as I mentioned earlier, I have referance shapes in my inventory I can check to determine how I did it. If you'd like, Shadow, you can drop a copy of the offending shape in my inventory and I'll try to force a mirror out of it. At best you'll get shapes with symetry. At worst, I've made a #$%!! out of myself on the boards for insisiting I could pull off something impossible. ;)

I have found no suitable way to mirror complex things, such as forward- or backward-sweeping wings of even just 5 or 6 prims. I've been struggling to somehow make a spawning object which spawns, internally flips, and spawns again... but it's not easy.

Mirroring would be extremely useful.

Taru, instead of horizontal and vertical I'd suggest to have the option of mirror for the 3 axis (X,Y,Z) and from local and world coordinate, would be cool, a total of 6 possibilities.
