Hi;
I have been working on some enhancements. So i now have version 0.2 out: see http://blog.machinimatrix.org/nurbs2sculptie/ Changes: * Nurbs tubes now convert correctly to sculpty cylinders * Now the script only asks for the sculpty type. Note: You can always modify the sculpt settings later when rebaking with Domino's tools, so i do not introduce any constraints here. I just make life easier for the default case. known issues: * The script does not check yet, that the initial object is realy a NURBS. So you could apply your script to arbitrary objects. But beware: The script works only for sculpties. In general the script will fail. have fun ![]() |

=D this great X3 but I have a problem when I try to download I only get a lot of script lines XP how I install that X3 I dont know how ? Does it make more sense in general to offer the file as a .zip file ? I didn't think of this, because the file is already so small ... But maybe that is still the better way. So i now changed the download to deliver a .zip file which contains the python script. Once you have downloaded the zip-file, extract its content to the same location, where you have installed Domino's scripts. I hope, that helps NOTE: My script won't create the sculptie map if Domino's scripts are missing!!! |

Hi, Nurbs fans;
I have added a short video with my script in action. You now find the script and the video on the machinimatrix blog: http://blog.machinimatrix.org/nurbs2sculptie/ enjoy ![]() |

Hi, all;
I have just released an update version of my nurbs2sculptie script. The conversion is now fully automatic and instead of creating a copy of the NURBS now the NURBS itself is transformed into a mesh object. So the script implements a "nurbs2sculptie by one click"... Please note, that my demo video is now outdated. But i have adapted the blog page http://blog.machinimatrix.org/nurbs2sculptie/ to the new script version. Please report back any problems. Especially i am unsure if the seams are handled correctly. So if anyone detects faulty behaviour, please, please, please... report it back to me and send a .blend file if everpossible. Then i can make it better. have fun, gaia |

well... the seams are handled incorrectly
![]() Especially if you use subdivide excessively on the NURBS, the transformation to Sculptie suffers from precision issues. I have replaced the script with version 0.4 which again asks you to enter the correct sculptie type. For further info see the documentation on the blog... http://blog.machinimatrix.org/nurbs2sculptie/ |

Hi Gaia, thanks for the script and your very excellent tutorials. One thing I noted is that the version number inside the script is still 0.2 instead of 0.4

Hi all;
Elliot Eldrich pointed me to a problem, which occurs when you have succesfully transformed your nurbs2sculptie but failed to set the correct sculptie type in the upcoming popup window. The problem is that this window automatically closes as soon as you move the mouse pointer out of it. If that happens, you get a sculptie without a defined sculptie_type. And this leads to an error during baking, where blender says something similar to "illegal sculptie type. Can not bake". I have now changed the script so that this particular error can never happen again. Download from http://www.machinimatrix.org/svn/sl/distrib/nurbs2sculptie-0.6.zip and read the docs at http://blog.machinimatrix.org/nurbs2sculptie/ Hah, scripting makes as much fun as building ![]() Gaia |

Thanks Gaia. Your efforts (and Dominos) are greatly appreciated by more people every day, in regards to Blender users at least, across the whole metaverse and not just SL I'm sure.
