Is there any way to avoid the "No room to sit here" error that happens when you try to sit on an object with no sittarget that is contained inside another object? I have a cafe at a height of 209 - right in the middle of the clouds. In that cafe I'm trying to place a 3 seater couch that has no-modify scripts in it... This error: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-3811Is driving me up the wall... - To the point where I'm about to toss the couch and go for some other item in that location. I've already tried putting a wall around the entire cafe to 'block out clouds' - but obviously as they're phantom that has all of zero effect (at first I thought it was working, because the clouds seemed to stay out of the cafe for a good 20 minutes, but it must have just been random luck of a clear sky). I -could- move the whole cafe up by 40m, and that works for couch, but I lose the theme of the place... Toss the couch? Or anyone have an idea?

I don't think clouds are as much Phantom, in the technical sense, as they are not really there.. They're more like particles than phantom objects.
Anyway.. Can you add a sit script to the couch prims? That there are other no-mod scripts in there, unless they are clearing the sit target, shouldn't matter as long as the couch itself isn't no-mod...

or resort to the clutter of poseballs.

The other scripts in the couch control positioning for up to 3 people - which might be why they lack a sit target.
If clouds are particles, then why am I getting this problem? Or does the error also happen from particles...

This error has nothing to do with you being in the clouds.
I don't know what is causing your problem, but it's not the clouds.

The moment I jump to a height of 253, I can sit on the couch.
Highlighting transparent doesn't show any other bounding items, just waves of red squares (clouds) passing through.
I guess I'm going to have to toss out this couch.

Megaprims might be at issue. The couch was resting on a megaprim floor. A 20x20x1 megaprim shaped into a cylindar, resting on a sculptie rock. - I moved the 'ground' away, but no effect. I tried moving it all the way to 800, to be very sure it was away. It's a 3 prim couch. I've got a nicer 11 prim 3 seater in my home that is copyable, but I'd rather not burn those 8 extra prims... http://slurl.com/secondlife/Fietzo/98/187/73- and use the teleporter to 'cloud cafe'. There's something in there I'm missing. I've moved the couch sideways to the opposite end of my land, way away from that area, and still can't use it. Only if I move it above or below the cloud layer do I get the option to site. The same thing happened with a few benches I tried - one of which was only a single seater in size, so I just put a seating script into it.

It is generally best to avoid being right in the cloud layer. There is absolutely no way to exclude the clouds from a space, and being in them does cause issues with clicking on things, camera control problems, and causes lag.
Both the megaprim couch and teh large sculpted rock sould like suspicious causes, as both could have bounding boxes well outside their visible limits.
If you move the couch to a non-megaprim platform that is NOT in the clouds, does the couch work?

Hmmm... I think I found it. Its a tree I'm using. I move the tree away, and I can sit. O.o The tree's on the outside of the far side of the building from the couch, but I guess its -that- big of a series of sculpties.

Sigh... That tree really adds flavor to the scene. But at least now I have choices I am informed about. (It looks a little clash-silly when cammed back like in my screenshot, but it all seems to fit together closer up). I only started thinking tree when I TP'd in during a network lag spike and saw the tree 'rezzing.' It seemed unusually big for a moment. I've had one platform or another at this spot for a few weeks now debating opening something to the public right in the middle of the clouds. Yeah, it can lag and cause some clicky issues - I wouldn't put a shop there. - But it feels very homey visually, as a native San Franciscan, to have clouds moving by at eye level. Especially since I started rebuilding to give a mixed semi-asian and coffee theme (all I need to do to make it really feel like home is put my latin salsa stream back in instead of the world/bollywood one I threw in the other day).

/me is confused by sculpty meshes.
Would rotating the tree possibly fix the problem or is that just stupid?

From: Argent Stonecutter Why can't you use sit scripts? I don't want to lose the ability for 3 people to sit on the couch, and I don't know the first thing about scripting. I actually went to the NCI scripting class this morning to hopefully learn enough to address issues like this, but the teacher never showed up and they had to cancel (we had a pretty full class too). The included scripts inside it (4 of them, and a notecard) seem to be in control of positioning and ensuring that its a 3 seater and not a single seater. Every sit script I've seen (those that are no modify so that I can read them) seems to be something that takes over the entire object so no additional people can sit there. The chair is not a freebie, so its not like any of you could grab it just to see what is going on, but here it is: https://uncensored.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=1446620- Very nice looking too, and a perfect match to my theme.
