Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me out.. Im sure anyone who reads this at some point or another has seen the floating rose tip jars above dancers heads in clubs etc...
Well I am opening my own club and I need jars but I want to make my own unique floating jars and I was wonderin how to do it. Is it just a picture edited with photoshop or what exactly do I have to do... if anyone could tell me how to make them I would much appreciate it. I know that to get them to float you need a script but I need to know how to make the actual jar be it a skull or butterfly lol. Also, how to give the jars a "Home" location once made.,.. thanks to any help

there are many different tip jars out there, floating and non floating, free and for sale..
When you say floating I tend to think they are probably attached to the person... (or do you mean just floating in the air stationary)
tip jars need a script to be a tip jar and accept the lindens (tip) and to give it to someone.
you can make a tip jar anything you want it to be, either flat panel with a pic, sculpty something or other, or just a cube. you will need some basic building skills and do some browsing for tip jar scripts.
If you need further help just give me a shout in world.
(also you have your PM's turned off on the forums, some folks like to help privately)

Noob here...lol
Ive seen the tip jars your talking about...i think they use a follow command and are not attached to the avatar at all. from observation of these tip jars, the dancer touches the jar (whatever it may be, rose, custom logo, star, music note) to log into the tip jar and it then moved from its "off duty" station to float to the top of the avatars head and will follow them around until they log out.

Generally, they're NOT attached to the avatar, so that they can be owned by the venue owner.
With a script like mine (jTipJar, available at XStreetSL), you can drop it into any object. It doesn't have a follow feature, but you can use any follow script, or IM me ingame if you'd like that feature added.
Other than that, all you need is a tutorial on basic building techniques. Start by clicking the BUILD button at the bottom of the screen and click on the ground, which will rez a plywood box. You'll also see the "Edit" popup. Go to the Object tab and try fiddling with all the widgets there to see what they do. Then go to the Texture tab and see what the options are there.
Ask any inworld friends who've built things. It's fun and pretty easy to learn. Some of parameters for various object shapes are pretty confusing, but if you don't need a fancy shape that shouldn't be a problem.

PS: Rha's a great builder, so since she offered to give you a hand, you should take her up on it!
