Howdy Y'all!!

So I was standing around at my park the other day and Baccara and I had a brainstorm -- why not ask the Lindens if we can put up a community mural on the backside of that ugly, although very useful, Teal/Slate Ampitheater? I'm thinking real community project type here -- art that we would do ourselves (or contribute to with another person) and that we would then turn over that art to the Lindens to place on the back of the ampitheater? I'm not even sure if this is feasible, but I wondered if anyone would be interested? We would have to come up with guidelines about what would be on the mural exactly but we could have a sim-town-meeting and discuss that with everyone as well :). I think the best way to approach it is to come up with a theme and then make sure all submitted art matches up with the guidelines/theme.

This might also serve to help the problem that Bob has with the sandbox -- we do literally live at the base of the Sandbox hill -- why not, as someone elsewhere suggested, we put up a community wall in that space -- the land on the edge of the sandbox is still open if I'm not mistaken -- and also do it "community mural" style? We could share the cost of the land/prims in that each of use could own a small portion of the wall or we could try to figure out another way to organize it. Anyway, just curious if anyone thinks this might work?

Okay, I'll give you my two cents, since no one else seems to have noticed this yet. (Or maybe has just decided to talk to you in-world instead.) I love the idea of a mural on the Slate side of the Amphitheater and I can't see anything wrong with beautifying (or at least enlivening ;) ) a blank wall.

Building a wall to block people and their objects out, however, seems to be tempting the Fates, as well as anyone feeling a little mischievous in Olive. My gut feeling is that a wall would only incite people to find ways over and around it.

Ownership of the wall would mean some would keep up their sections better than others, until group ownership is possible in 1.1. We could see crumbling sections or vandalized sections eventually.

But maybe it would work out. I still think making Olive a valley or teleport-only is the best idea. But that's something only the Lindens could do, whereas it seems a wall is the only recourse for us mortals.

Thanks Alias!! I appreciate your feedback :).

I think you're right about the wall near Bob's place and Olive -- I was just throwing ideas out there :). But as it stands, looks like not many people interested in the project of beautifying the ampitheather's back wall so I will shelve it and try to just hide it with trees ;).

Cover the amphitheatre wall with ivy ... the traditional architects solution!

As for Olive ... the junk falling down into Slate is kind of a chore, but maintaining a wall would be a chore too. And some of the stuff from Olive falls from *very* high up. A wall would also make Slate feel less 'natural' (as much as a virtual valley can be, hee hee). Having Olive lord it over the surrounding sims might not have been the best idea ... pushing the middle 90% of Olive down about 20 meters might help I suppose.

Like I said, I think you're right about Olive. Brainstorming sometimes gets one into thinking about crazy unworkable things :). I think that the Lindens are probably on what to do about Olive anyway, and they have a good track record of coming with nice ways to solve problems so no need for for me to get into that. However, I really do hate the ugly back of that ampitheater, LOL.

If you can't decide on a design you could always do some tromp l'oie of a natural scene; kind of an "infinity edge" to the sim
