I just want to introduce everyone to a project that has been brewing in my giant elven brain for some time and that is now, with a scripter on retainer and starting work, about to come into being!
If you wander into DarkWood and go a little west of the square, you'll encounter DarkWood cave. It has mist and bats and flowing lava, it got some fantastically crazy flowers done by Fallingwater Cellardoor, it's got jeweled rocks and stalagmites and, I've had a few folks tell me, you can even get lost in there. But for a long time, it was just a cave. Ohh boy. Yahoo. So what? Right?
In the next few weeks, the cave will transform itself into the DarkWood Cave Riddle Quest site. This is how it will work:
Players will arrive at the cave and be given an "introductory" riddle and clue to the location of the next riddle by an object at the cave's mouth. In order to win the game, players must do two things 1) figure out the location clue and get as near to the next riddle dispenser as they can 2) solve the riddle. Once the player figures out the clue he/she should go to the general area that they think the next riddle object will be in, then, the player should solve the riddle and speak the answer outloud. If the player gets the answer to the riddle right, another riddle dispensing object will appear, which will give a clue to the next object and another riddle and so on and so forth. Once the player has gone through all of the riddles, she/he will have to solve one final, hum-dinger of a riddle. If the player solves this riddle and finds the msyterious final dispenser, he/she will recieve 2,000 L.
There are a couple of caveats. 1) If you win the riddle game, you won't be able to win again for 48 hours, during which time the riddles and answers will be changed entirely. Therefore, you can come back, solve another set of riddles, and win again (that is, if you can come up with the right answer!). 2) There will be at least 10 riddles/clues/dispensers prior to the final riddle, which will have to be solved before you can solve the final riddle. These won't be easy and they will be somewhat random -- i.e. I'm using riddles from myriad of sources. You might find a couple of Old English riddles in there, you may have some logic puzzles, you may find riddles of my own creation. In that sense, the game will be a little quirky and will rely on the players really using their abilities to a) search google (oh I know some of you will) or b) use their language/comprehension abilities in a quick, quirky way.
Right now, the scripting is in process, thanks to the work of Panthar Orlowski, who has kindly taken some of my L to take on this project. You are welcome to come down and take a look at the cave, get used to the environs. In a couple of weeks, I will put out a call for pre-live testers to help me make sure the game works right before I start handing out cash

Right now plans are to make the game free to play, but depending on how good you guys are at this, I reserve the right to charge a very small fee for playing, but I'm hoping to avoid that. My goal with this game is just to make my big honking build useful in some way, maybe to help out my fellow DarkWoodians.
I'm also looking for people who might interested in creating interesting cave-themed riddle dispensers. If you're a good critter creator and you're looking for a fun project, let me know. There will be a full listing of contributors to the project available for all players to see and your name will go prominently there and, depending on the success of the project, any actual profits will be funneled back into the Cave group -- which means shared profits for anyone involved. Just send me an IM in game if you're intersted in working on it
