I see every now and then threads that begin with sentences and end with ... followed by posts that add to the previous sentence and end with ... and so on.

What I've wanted for a long while now, perhaps in attempts to get myself into the habit of writing, is to have a partner (or several persons) who would like to write an all-original fantasy-esque story in this format, though perhaps with full chapters written and then passed on to the next person, who would then add to the story and then pass it on, etc.

But I haven't found anyone to do this with in my FL! So I'm looking for people who are interested in doing something like this in SL, perhaps even through Notecards--that way, we can show off what we have done when the stories are finished.

So, I will be making a Group called Writer's Circle tonight, and encourage those who want to be a part of this project to join. If one or many members join the group, I will quickly hold a meeting and we can set up how to organize the passing-around of the story. (Or "stories," I should say, as naturally a group like this could have more than one passed around, especially if we want to write stories of various genres.)

Any questions? Leave them in this thread. :) And run a search on Circle or Writer's Circle or whatever as soon as you can to join if you really want to! I'd like to get started sometime relatively soon. :D

D'ohh!! You scheduled it on a night when I can't go online.

I'm very interested in this though. It sounds like fun. Can I join in even if I miss tonights event?

Tonight's event is not for the Writer's Circle. :D Don't worry about it!

But please join, definitely! I only put up the post for the group last night, and won't be holding an event meeting until this weekend or some time next week... and would probably hold more than one for those who can't make it.

Thanks for the interest, though!

Thx for the invite, Dae! I joined today. It sounds like fun :D . I have to warn you though, I'm not a l33t writer. My skills are mostly in the art department. But if you still want me as a member, I'd be honored to! :p

Is there really no one else interested in a group like this? I would have expected more people to jump up and join... Don't mind the group we have, it's large enough, but I thought I'd bump this one last time to get the name out.

I'm such a pain, I know. ;)

Well, I like to write, but normally by myself. I don't like people very much; they tend to get in the way of things.

I noticed that alot of groups when you search, say please join but have their settings set not to accept everybody. The writers' group was like this but I don't know if that's because I'm a member so the button to join doesn't show.

I made sure this group was set for everyone to join. :D But that's okay... I originally was writing a post planning on having a very very small group; got ambitious, though, swung the bat full-swing. So, what times are best for you guys to have a quick meeting for this?

I'd be interested in joining if there's another open spot... (8

There's definitely "open spots." :D Actually, what I was thinking in my most ambitious frame of mind, that the more people join the more stories we could have going at once (or rather we'd have subgroups working on separate projects). But I think there are roughly 6 people in the group right now which, when considering we all come from different places and have different ideas in mind, would create a heck of a crazy story (or two).

Another thing to consider for the meeting, whenever it will be held... what kind of story would we like to start with as a pilot for the project? Just an introductory idea would be great, as the story would inevitably change (perhaps drastically) as it is passed on to the various authors.

And I maybe should rename the subject of this thread; this isn't just a group for avid writers or anything like that. Anyone who wants to take part who has a creative eye for things would be a great addition to the group.

I did this once with a group of friends in an old site that we used to have named Long Live The Lemur. One person would start a story and would leave it at a suspenseful spot, then another person would write more story and leave it at another spot and so on. Judging by my experience in this, it's not that important to choose what kind of story to start with... we once had a story that started out as a jungle story and ended up being a sci-fi tale with Richard Simmons. Very scary stuff! :D

I'm too busy writing in RL right now to join in HOWEVER, when you finish a story, would you all mind sending me a copy? I have a an old advisor/friend who write books about fan fiction/internet fiction and this kind of thing would driver her mad with critical zeal . . .I'd like to send it to her.
