I posted this to Events, but realised it probably should have gone here.

Writer's Workshop's Setup
Last night, I had an organisational meeting to setup Writer's Workshops in game. Below is a copy of the notecard I handed out after the meeting. Following that are some instructions about getting in a group yourself.

**notecard transcript**

Following are the groups as decided at the meeting:

Sunday Group - 6 PST

Buttercup Perkins
Myradyl Muse
Ozone Twilight
Malyssa Westerburg
Max Medici

Wednesday - 6 PST

Lynda Dayton
Princess Medici
David Valentino:
Beau Perkins
Malachi Petunia

Friday - 6 PST

Zana Feaver
Odnam Zepata
Zarah Dawn
Alana Monde
Adrian Llewelyn
Oneironaut Escher

I believe the Wednesday group decided to meet for the first time next Wednesday. Wednesday group should decide on first submitter and where they are meeting.

The Friday group is going to meet this Friday (minus Zana) to begin scheduling and planning. Odnam Zepata has agreed to submit something at the first meeting to be critiqued at the next.
Of course, Odnam, it would be acceptable if this is too quick for you. The Friday group will be meeting at my place (Stanford 250, 100)

I believe the Sunday group decided to meet this Sunday, and I think the Stanford location but not certain. Also not sure about first submitter.

A few thoughts:

Please don't be afraid to submit or feel that you are in anyway competing. Just as we're all at different stages of our lives, we're also at different stages of our writing.

These groups are to encourage writing through constructive criticism. We don't want to make them too stressful, and you should never feel guilty or pressured.

We do want the groups to be structured, though, so as not to fall apart. If you have to miss submitting on your turn, most likely, to be fair, you would need to wait until the cycle got back around to you to submit again. Remember, if you don't submit during your week, the only one missing out will be you. Critique/help from others going through the same process is immensely valuable

But please, don't be stressed!

During your first meeting, it's probably a good idea to establish your rotation order, and to also discuss the specifics of your group.

The suggested format is for a submission by the next in line each week, with the group critiquing last week's submission. It's a good idea usually, for someone to be selected, or volunteer to head up a critiquing session. Leading the discussion should be rotated as well as learning to critique others writing will be greatly helpful in learning to critique/edit your own.

We may get interest from others to join the groups. This should be decided on on a group by group basis. People joining the group should be added to the end of the rotation cycle. Groups probably shouldn't get too large. If you find your group getting big, you may want to consider forming two smaller groups.

In the past, I've always found myself to be most productive when in this type of workshop. Deadlines are the scurge of the blank page (I think Myradyl said that). Can't wait to see what we all produce

Now, we are, as stated, gonna try and keep these relatively small. If you would like to either try and join a group, or form a group of your own, please either contact me or someone in the relevant group.
