Select the primes you want linked then in the tools drop down at the top of the screen select link.

If the objects which you want to link alltogether are too far away from each other, then you can not link them together into one object as described by Lyla. To my knowledge the max distance for linked objects is 30 meters.
But i sometimes also see problems when i work with tiny prims. I often could workaround by selecting smaller subsets of objects and link those together, then grab the allready linked subsets and link those together to bigger link collections until i got everything into one link collection. I do not know, why and when that happens, but my workaround worked always for me as long as the overall object distance is less than 30 meters.
If your collection is bigger, then you still can select all items you want to remove and "take" them all together. You will find your object collection in the inventory and then you can later rez the whole collection. To my knowledge there is no limitation in size with that technique.
You better check first that all objects in request belong to you, then try "take copy", rerez your collection at some other place and check if the collection is really intact and all items are in place. Only then remove the original collection out of world.
i hope that helped a bit.

An additional tip here is to open the edit window before rezzing collections, that way all the objects will be selected after rezzing. It makes positioning them as a group easier.

a little more detailed answer

linking two prims as one is a pretty simple task. me thinks most see it as such a simple task that their answers are to some what vague.
to link two prims, right click on one of the prims and select edit, then hold down your cntrl button and select what other prims ya want linked together. when all the prims that you want linked together are highlighted go up to tools button, and open menu, scroll down and find the link title. and left click it. and presto your prims are linked.
this is a pretty easy task, but there are things to keep in mind when linking.
one is as mentioned above there is a limit on distance between prims to be linked. two is the last prim selected well become the root prim, which means positioning and rotation will be based on the root prim's location. i find that is is always best to try and keep the root prim closest to the center of the linked prims if all possible.
when going to edit the prims, i have found resize doesn't work too good. and to edit a particilar prim in the linked prims, just go back up to the tools button and select edit linked prim, then select the prim ya want to edit.
