I am new to SL and have been playing for about two weeks. I am extremely impressed with the creativity deomstrated in this game.
I was curious if there has been or are plans for a decorators design house event in SL.
The basic idea is that there is a standard house built with empty rooms.
Room Types:
1. Living Room
2. Kitchen
3. Dining Room
4. Master Bedroom
5. Guest Bedroom
6. Den/Family Room/Rec Room
7. Library/Study
8. Bathroom
9. Foyer/Staircase/Entryway
More could be added depending on interest.
Designers then apply to participate in the Design House by providing a brief portfolio including in-game creations.
Nine designers are chosen to participate in the design house. (or a number of designers equal to the number of rooms) There will also be alternates in case of a dropout.
A random drawing will take place to determine which room each decorator will be charged with furnishing.
Decorators will be given a set amount of time to create and implement their vision for the room. There can or cannot be a theme depending on the design house. You could have Spring House, Christmas House, or a free-for-all house.
Basic Rules:
- No remodeling of the house. You cannot change placement of walls, floors, windows, doors, etc.
- Your design must be completely self contained in your room.
- Prim limit. Given the nature of SL, there will need to be a prim limit.
- Access to the house will be limited to the decorators or the decorating team leaders. Teams can be any size but a maximum or 2 team members will have access to the design house. The 2 members granted access cannot change.
- All designs remain the property of the designers to do with as they wish. The design house would retain no rights to decorator creations.
Prizes will be awarded in several categories. Best overall, best use of space, innovation, realism, etc.
Additional thoughts:
- Secure lot. The lot will be secure from visitors other than decorators.
- Two events. Empty house room assignment event. Decorated room unveiling event.
Anyway, I don't want to continue in case this has been done. Any feedback?
