I've been using Blender for more than a year. I sell sculpties in-world. I've kept using my old version, 2.44, with no trouble until a few days ago, when Save As would cause the program to crash. Okay, I downloaded 2.48, did a sculpt just like always from a NURBs sphere, converted to mesh, had a heart-attack about the UV Face Select thing, found the answer, unwrapped the mesh, set up the image, baked, and got...
Sculptypox. The sculpt map had pale squares all over it, and when I uploaded it the sculpty was jagged and unrecognizable. So I have gone back to 2.44, which seems to be working again, but what happened here? I'm sure I'll want to go to 2.48 at some point, but this morning was weird, weird, weird. Has Blender finally turned on me?

Are you working with amanda Levitzky's tutorial about sculpted prims ? There is a caveat during unwrapping, which often spoils the end result. But times have changed a lot since blender 2.44 and meanwhile there is a lot of scripting around for sculpties in blender... Are you aware of the domino scripts ? http://www.dominodesigns.info/second_life/blender_scripts.htmland are you aware of the Nurbs2Sculptie script ? http://blog.machinimatrix.org/nurbs2sculptie/I would give those developments a try... You would be able to convert your nurbs to a sculptie with 2 mouse clicks... cheers, gaia

Thanks so much-- I was out of the loop for four months from Dec. 2008 until March, due to a move in RL. I have catching up to do. I haven't used Domino's scripts yet, since I am on a Mac and I remember them being PC-only at one point. At least I got 2.44 up and running and I'm making sculpts again this morning!

From: Rusalka Writer Thanks so much-- I was out of the loop for four months from Dec. 2008 until March, due to a move in RL. I have catching up to do. I haven't used Domino's scripts yet, since I am on a Mac and I remember them being PC-only at one point. At least I got 2.44 up and running and I'm making sculpts again this morning! The scripts run on mac! But you need at least blender-2.45 to run them because they use one feature, which has only been introduced with that release (i don't remember, what exactly it was though) Anyways good luck to you
