Mirroring Sculptie Question

I Downloaded the latest Client yesterday to try out the Mirror Sculpty option in edit, used it on a small build, then I discovered that load time on applying textures was too much to bear, I uninstalled and installed an earlier viewer only to discover that some of the prims on my new build(that I made in the latest viewer) are no longer mirrored.

Question is, is this a regular thing/ Is it supposed to do that? If this is the case and I build something in the latest client, and then sell it, and the buyer is using an older viewer .. get where I am going? Will the prims do that and make the build all twisted??

TIA

Nissa

This happened to me last week too. I mirrored an outfit part and then relogged in the older viewer to take pics so as not to have my hair disappear as happens when standing on a pose stand in the newer viewer and realized my sculptie wasn't mirrored anymore. Obviously too early to start really using the mirroring function on anything you plan to sell....

The mirroring is a cleint-side graphical effect. As far as the server side knows, it doesn't exist. So there's no way to tell any older viewer to mirror anything. Only viewers that have the mirroring function built in will be able to display objects as mirrored. All older viewers will show just whatever the sculpt map says.

The same is true for oblong sculpts. They'll only display properly in the newest viewer. Older viewers will square them, totally screwing them up.

I really wish LL would quit allowing older viewers to connect. Otherwise newer features will remain almost completely useless.

Untill LL learns that they need to force the updates on the users instead of forcing them on the users when theres a important update like for security or other blah blah blah.

it will always be like this.

Personally
I can see 1000 ways this new feature is going to be abused
