Rez a cube. Make a hole in the center of the cube (hollow). From the pull-down menu there by the hole size thingie, choose the shape of the hole to be a circle.

I know there's a square peg, round hole joke in here somewhere, but I'm too tired to think of it.

You only get one hole per prim & always in the middle of it, until LL drastically updates the hollow function. Sounds like you need another prim.

PetGirl - What you might want to try is to go into PhotoShop and create a 256 X 256 texture and then draw a hole in it. Select the hole and make it Alpha. Upload the texture and apply it to the cube. That way you can place the circular window where you want it via the texture and you can even do cool things with it, like put cross bows in it or double circles to make it look framed.

Hope this helps.

Another option is to create the "window" prim with the hollowed hole, and then add some more cubes around to give the appearance of being off-center. If the prims are textured, you'll have to nudge the texture offsets a bit to get it all to "look right", but it's easily doable.

If you are just going to do simple graphics occaisionally and are willing to put up with a program that is a bit frustrating to use, try GIMP. It's free. http://www.gimp.org/

if you want to put some nifty glass with framing in that keen hole you got and want the window panes circular (most window textures are standard horizontal/vertical types) try making your "glass" from a sphere rather than and smushed down cylindar.

Rezz your sphere then, (and here comes the fun part), dimple the sphere to .49/.51. It flattens it out to make it look like a circle and will make your window pane texture circular.

This works really well for anything you want to have a straight texture curved. Like the bricks on the base of sumpin. :D

Window Tricks

Here are some other window tricks you can try (some I've used, and some I haven't yet attempted):

1) If you have a 10x10 wall and want a pie-wedge shape window, use cut begin/cut end to make the wall a 3/4 piece. Then create another wall of the exact same size, with the same coordinates. Cut this one down to 1/4 size and rotate to fill in the empty space left by the first prim. Now adjust the hollow settings on either object to create windows of varying shapes/sizes, combining different hollow shapes for different effects.

2) As has already been suggested, you can make a smaller cube with your window and place other cubes around it to create the wall

3) I think someone else already mentioned using transparent textures to create window effects. These have their advantages and disadvantages. With the right texture, you can position your window anywhere on the object, but you may have a hard time getting the proportions you want. Also, you may find you have to bake your texture, or won't get a good 3-D look.

4) Here's one I don't think anyone's tried... There is an 'invisible' texture which is used in cloaking devices. I don't know if anyone has a copy of it in their inventory. I only have seen it in scripts, but what it appears to do is to make any objects behind it which are shiny or have any transparency at all, invisible. I think you could, in theory, create an object of any shape you want, use a script to apply the invis texture to it, and then place it in front of your wall to create a see-through effect. A single sphere sized properly could cover both sides of the wall, or just one if you wanted a one-way window. It would require the wall to have a transparency of at least 1%, because I've found that for clients that have shiny objects turned off, it doesnt work.

The asset key of the texture is: 38b86f85-2575-52a9-a531-23108d8da837
And the code you'd want is something like:
default { state_entry() { llSetTexture("38b86f85-2575-52a9-a531-23108d8da837", ALL_SIDES); }}

Put that code in a 'window pane' object. (note that the texture is not *completely* invisible; I think it's used for clouds or something, so you'll need to stretch and offset the texture to make your object completely invisible) I've included a snapshot of a quick example I whipped up using a single 10x10 wall and several prims of different size/shapes, enough to give you the general idea.
